@OfDeath My company doesn't have a union and I'm not a slave. I think you're greatly exagerrating. Why aren't ALL companies allotted unions then? So some employees can be protected from modern day slavery, but others can't? I feel the only people who support unions are people who are themselves union members. I don't see why anyone else would care

Unions effect their whole job industry and how the workforce is treated as a whole, not just their own company. So even if you're not in a union, you still benefit from them.

Just the fact that there are unions and the option to unionize is there keeps most companies on their toes. However, there are still unscrupulous companies like amazon who find excuses to sack staff for being involved with unions and encourage a work culture of unfair pay and conditions.

You have an inchoate understanding of what unions are, do and how they affect the economy as a whole.

I would be a bigger fan of unions if they didn't have the tenure policy or any other policy that prevents people who clearly aren't doing their job from being fired.

I think especially applying this to police, government and teachers unions would have a net positive effect in our society.
