An authority tells you to unhook the life support of someone begging you to stop.

A judge ordered her life support be turned off. It turns out it was a series of errors and bureaucratic shit that disregarded her lucidity. And her family will be millionaires soon. I’m sure they prefer their daughter back.

Who wanted life support switched off? Family? Doctors? Insurance company? Surely it's one of those things that as a human being when asked to perform such a thing you just say no I won't. Much like if you were ordered to shoot a baby. But I suppose you would be surprised at the horrendous actions people will do provided they can get away with it.

In the country where I live, judges can't order life support being turned off without the agreement of doctors. Doesn't sound like in this case any doctors wanted to do that. It would have helped a lot if whoever asked this question. It also included whatever media articles or other sources of information were available instead of just expecting people to decide based on the very plane facts.

I'm really surprised that anybody was actually willing to turn off the equipment and remove life support. Nobody was I know in my profession would do anything like that.

@OddBeMe Doctor works for the goverment for whom the Judge is the master he had to do his job. The goverment bureaucracy could hardly care about a few million dollars lost for their sake their bureaucracy it is after all tax payer dollars not their own.

Unless a majority of voters in the UK care about this particular woman more than they do every other issue actually effecting them, its unlikely much will be done.

Just as little was done to prevent similar tragedies where the UK actually went so far as to prevent people from seeking care elsewhere.

The NHS is the UK's great curse, even as it murders and impoverishes its people.
