I live on 30 beautiful acres of oak grassland with a view and have a comfy home in a rural part of Northern California with nearby access to necessities and also big cities. I LOVE my home.
We have a 24'x30', two story, steel garage.
We already have a small orchard with a variety of fruit trees, including citrus. We also have herbs and raised beds with lots of veggies. Everything is watered by a drip irrigation system.
We have a fantastic well and a storage tank that gravity feeds to our house and gardens. We have a solar voltaic system and propane.

    - I would pay off my mortgage and HELOC.
    - I'd spend a couple $million or whatever it took to upgrade my house and garage and making my home/property 100% sustainable and immune from disaster, energy and food shortages.
    - I'd buy a few different vehicles for different types of use.
    - I would give my sister $1million because she has helped me out many times.
    - I would buy tangible assets like essential consumer items, ammunition, gold and silver.
    - I would invest the rest of the money and use it to support my wife and myself though our retirement.
    - We would probably do a lot of traveling and enjoy life.

My brother and I grew up poor, but we never knew it. We had mac and cheese, hot dogs and horse hamburgers. We thought we were lucky.

I would hand the 10 million to my investment advisor, and tell her to make me richer. (she's a wizard with money)

The ONLY charities I care about are those involving children. And my heart goes out to children who wouldn't normally get jack shit for Christmas. (I realize that the word "Christmas is offensive to some, but I doubt that a funky guy like you gives as many fucks as me about what the libtards think )

I'm actually a very famous wrapper. I just wish I could do more. If I had the money, I'd be wheeling and dealing with vendors to get tons of crap for the rug rats. That would be worth more than any vacation or object I could ever want.

Funky, I know you're a musician, but this is different.
There's a small window where kids believe in magic, and that's where we have to strike.

When I was a famous wrapper, I was just an elf. The superstars were the sheriff deputies that got to see the awesome kids and be the heroes.

I had two neighbors, when we were kids, that would do that in our neighborhood. They'd dress up like Santa and go door to door where kids were and pay them a short visit a few days before Christmas. One night, one of those guys came over to visit on Christmas Eve but he wasn't dressed as Santa. We were all upstairs playing around and making noise because we were just so excited that Santa was gonna come tonight! We were SUPPOSED to be in bed!! Mr. Gallo heard us making all this noise and mom said we were SUPPOSED to be in bed! So, Frank yells up to us in his Santa voice, "If you kids aren't in bed, I'm not gonna leave any toys for you!" We all jumped into bed and turned out the lights and went to sleep!!

I once did that, and I regret it. I paid $4,500 to the Thai mafia to keep them from killing my nephew in Bangkok. Shortly after that he died of a drug OD.

But I get what you're saying. I would love to help people who really deserve it. He didn't deserve it.

I have to wonder if he took it or if it was forced on him?

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of something like, walking up to a legitimate homeless person that doesn't want to be there and say, "Here's $30,000, go buy yourself a house". Or, someone's in need of an expensive operation they can't afford and I hear about it and pay the bill for them.
A couple years ago, I was flat broke and living off the change I found on the ground at drive through windows at the mall. I'd walk up (almost 2 miles) every night around 1:00 and scoop up any loose change I could find! One night, I went into the grocery store there to buy something like a loaf of bread with the money I just found and there was a woman in front of me in line and couldn't pay her tab, at least not at first, she eventually found a way but, I just about told her that I'd give her the money and then I remembered, I don't HAVE the money!! I've got MAYBE $2.00 in change in my pocket!!

You sound like you have a kind heart, and the world needs more souls like you. Every now and then I hear of the "power ball" being about a billion dollars. I try to imagine what I would do with that money, but I really don't want anything. I think I would just help out poor people. I can't imagine just spending it on fancy shit for myself.

Yes, I do! Thank you! There's bunnies in the front yard and deer out back and I feed bread to the bunnies every day and apples to the deer if I have any. In the past two months, I've gone to the store twice to buy a loaf of bread just to feed to the bunnies. I'd do the same for the deer but, I only see them once every couple weeks and the apples would go bad before they come around. I wish I had shitloads of cash but NOT out of greed!! Just because I've been poor most of my life and would like to change that!! And, if I ever find myself with tons of money, I know what it's like to need and would have very little problem sharing what I have with others that need. There's a rich guy that lives near here, somewhere and, every Christmas, he goes downtown and hands out hundred dollar bills to people he passes on the street. I'd love to do that with or for him!!
Oh, if I won a billion in the lottery, I'd buy a few nice things for myself, things I've never had before and would be a great help to me but, I'm not greedy!! I think I'd rather have records than money! Lol. There all these billionaires running around who can't BEGIN to spend what they've got!! I figured out a year ago that all of the billionaires and multi-millionaires could easily see to it that everyone in the country could be given a million dollars and those rich bastards would never miss it!

We think a lot alike. I wish I had the money to do more, but I don't. And I too would buy myself some things, but I really don't know what to buy. I'm not trying to pat myself on the back, it's just that I really don't want much for myself.

I would probably get a house sort of like Paisley Park. A nice big place to live, a big swimming pool, recording studio, instead of a basketball court, I'd have a record library, probably buy a record store like Jerry's, a radio station so I could play whatever the fuck I want and what I think people would love to listen to (there's SO MUCH incredibly good music out there that NEVER gets airplay and RICHLY deserves it!! (Mountain had 6 albums out!! How much of their stuff ever gets played? ONE SONG!! "Mississippi Queen"!!) I'd hire someone to make a keyboard that FUCKING WORKS!!! I'd have at least 2 pool tables in the house, a nice big yard, hot and cold running blondes and the letter M stricken from the English alphabet! (You gotta get at least one really crazy thing just to prove that you're serious! Lol, 2 pool tables!! INSANE!!)

Immediately hire a lawyer and estate agent, set half the money aside in a trust with dividend payouts to me monthly (principal is not touchable).

Then, pay off my debt, buy a house in the mountains, and work to setting it up so I don't need to work.

Then, buy land and pay off two people's debts before seeing if I can move friends out to my land.

From there, pretty much anything I want provided it's paid for my dividends.

I'll have $100k to use as play investment money and the rest of whatever money is left over will be used on building a life I love living.

    3. Pay off my house.

In real life they did. The problems with idealists on the internet are 1) often they don't actually want the end whose means they criticize, which frees them up to launch any criticism, even made up ones, as the point is to prevent that end, not achieve it, and 2) in a democracy, among those who take democracy seriously, progress can only ever be obtained gradually. You have to vote for it and then keep voting for it for the rest of your life or you aren't actually interested in using the levers of democracy to obtain an end.

Obamacare passed, and that was a step towards Obama's promises. He was delivering. But then the American people gave republicans the house because they were scared of "death panels" and "socialism." So it was that the American people said they wanted progress towards Obama's promises to be halted. And so they were. That's how that works. Same with Biden. He was delivering on his promises and then the American people decided they wanted republicans to have the house. So that progress has been halted. Wanting Biden to deliver on his promises against the will of the American people is called wanting a dictatorship. Republicans can do that but not democrats.
