I don't think people fake mental illness, I think they automatically assume they have mental health issues, cause they are going through a bad time or something happened their life, and now they have depression or anxiety.
Majority of people are just looking for someone else for a quick fix to their problems. I will go to the doctors and get anti-depressants and that will solve my problems.
As sad to say, the next pandemic, is going to be mental health issues, more people have died through mental health than covid.
Unforunately society is getting worse, were people are dealing with the problems and learning to regulate thier emotions. And schools are failing our children, and teaching them rubbish, like the transgender subject.
Reality of the matter, life is tough, shit, and you have to deal with your problems effectively and find solutions to your problems. Also most don't have a lot of emotionally resiliance to bad circumstance, they give up, because life gets to hard for them, and then go the doctors, and fill themselves up with drugs.

The internet and self diagnosis is to blame, both are becoming more common. I have noticed that a lot of women claim to have personality disorders to justify bad behaviour even in their late 20s or 30s.

I believe it’s because they want to be seen unique and they haven’t really looked deep within themselves or developed any true passions. Plus, they don’t like work.
So, instead of getting into art or music or sports and sharing their passion (which all takes a lot of hard work), they can simply falsely identify as someone with a fake illness (effortless) and then make that their ‘thing’.
It’s like they want to feel special but are too lazy to do the work.Autism and ADHD in kids is not really an issue. I get blasted for saying the obvious but those doctors diagnosing every other child as Autistic need to get their degrees verified because lots of my classmates used to act just like the autistic children people complain about today. I got a lot of flak when I pointed this out from white American moms. Obviously they are overprotective of the child but it's making their kids act in the exact same way they want the children to act
They fake it because if they can get a psychologist to sign some papers, they'll get a check every month for the rest of their lives.
New tools are available so it is becoming more common to be diagnosed with ADHD or Autism as an adult. A small percentage of the population is just susceptible to being convinced they have or are something when they aren't.
Because they are in desperate need of people to “accept” them or notice them
Everyone wants to be a victim and everyone wants to be special.
Yes i have noticed too don't know why it's increasing
Makes them feel better about being mediocre. They can't accept they have shit focus and have shit social skills because they have a shit lifestyle
