Someone who is conscious enough to blame bad behavior on mental illness is conscious enough not to engage in the behavior on the first place.

This reply is in response to user Aaron below, where as I attempted to reply directly to his comment, but I was capped with incredulous limitations & I despise incredulous limitations since I prefer to speak my mind fully as the words come into existence within my brain, some may call it a "special" brain but it's a brain nonetheless. Here was my intended rebuttal to his comment; Not always. Someone may very well have the capacity of understanding the flaws & negative attributes associated with their diagnosis, but may fail to exhibit the correct behaviors capable of detaching them from said mental illness. Case in point Chris Chan, Chris Chan probably understand autism more than most doctors of psychology, but that sure as shit doesn't translate to Chris Chan having the capacity or the capabilities of navigating a life surrounding any semblance of normalcy. Chis Chan understands Chris Chans short comings, but Chis Chan in no way understands how to apply themselves in any healthily accredited social space of self conduct of which could be considered someone observing any sense of social intelligence. I use this individual merely based on the level of infamy they have garnered & for the simple fact that they are a very easily assessed example which might provide contradictory statements to that of your statement here. If only certain things were that black & white life might be much easier in any instance where that might be beneficial for someone to not be ever so hard-pressed to experience immense difficulty as they trek through this life as a human being, which we all know has it's incredible ups, downs, difficulty's, & ease but at no point can I accept the basis surrounding the answer you have provided here, where as it is simply untrue & very easily verifiable & you should definitely be greatly thankful that you have been blessed with such an existence that might provide you with such a perspective. Count your blessings, as it seems you have many, & that is in no way me attempting to discredit you, I implore every single person to observe immense gratitude for whatever blessings they have & use them to thrive in this life to the best of their ability, in fact I wish endlessly more people could observe the same means of blessings you've procured for yourself. Perhaps this world would be a happier place, a vastly more ignorant place, but ignorance is bliss & bliss is happiness. With that being said, I wish you all the best. Take care, good sir. It sometimes is valid but with the way the court system is at least in the US and with all the cases the lawyers being able to convince the jury that their prosecutor is mentally ill and gets them to plead insanity when there is sometimes no biological evidence to prove this to be true. It makes you question other people who really do have a mental illness. Its like the boy who cries wolf or when even some of the women who falsely accuse a man of rape.

ya quite a nifty scapegoat.. real. buzzword.. it's real like any thing if society's professions back it n perpetuate it's people will jump on any band wagon.. I'm afraid.

The rule of thought seems to be “have you ever tired to NOT being mentally ill?”
Sad.
Sad that sick people can’t get the adequate care they need. And sad because perfectly well people will take advantage of anything extended to those who need it, just because they can.🫤

I do think there are some people who are truly insane or mentally ill to the point they were so delusional they didn’t realise what they were doing is wrong.
Most of the time I think people just use mental illness as an excuse for their bad behaviour. I think most mentally ill people still understand the difference between right and wrong.

Most mental illness is a product of your environment, outlook and life choices.
They can blame their mental illness all they want, but in the end it's still their fault

mental illness is the product of a medical illness, which when treated properly with Abilify or some siimilar medication the illness goes away.

Depends on the behavior and the illness. Mental illness is no excuse for committing violent crimes. However, someone who is mentally ill might perceive a situation as self defense when it isn't.

my ex tried doing that and after a while i got disgusted with her using that as a cop out each time she relapsed or screwed up some other way
