The only reason you dump trillions of dollars into your military every year is because you need to placate the rich guys that have a ton of dirt on you and that threaten to expose it publicly which would ruin your life. What you doing essentially is paying protection money. Since you are from Europe. I will enlighten you about a fact we in the US all know. The US is the most corrupt country in the world and you don't think it is only because the corruption is so well hidden. We see it but nobody else does.

Also most of the US military aid to Ukraine is in equipment USA already bought, used and then put into storage. Ukraine is kinda getting USA's "hand me downs" that is no longer up to the American standard so while it is technically "a lot of money" it is in the form of useless junk taking up space in storage and which requires yearly costs to maintain and bloats the American expense sheets.

Sure, they got some cash however this is also in the interest of USA. The whole reason you dump close to a trillion dollars each year into your military is to oppress countries like Russia. The fact that you spend a fraction of that to directly destroy Russia is quite frankly just economical. With Russia gone USA could reduce its military budget by hundreds of billions each year if they wanted to.

Of course they probably won't. USA is addicted to its military for some reason I am too European to understand. As for how much Joey gets in "kickbacks"? Zero. This is not a family venture in the first place like Trump was doing.

@Soteris Out of all the nations, the US has the highest National Debt. Higher than some groups of nations. So why don't we let the nations surrounding that area put out a little instead of the US all the time. One of these times it is going to be our undoing and break us, like what happened to the old USSR.

USA's national debt is around 110% of GDP. Japans national debt is about 210% GDP.

Also USA is the super power, it is in YOUR interest to maintain that spot and an important part of that is to over-match countries like Russia and China. The USSR did not collapse because it ran out of money, it collapsed because of politics and part of that was it being held together by its title as a super power. If USA were to lose its status as a super power then you would probably face a similar national collapse. From a purely political point of view it is in USA's best interest to prioritize Ukraine winning its war even over domestic concerns such as aiding American citizens. That is how important this is for USA.

@Soteris If you recall we were Russia's allies during the war and in the end it bit us in the ass. We fought in Viet Nam and it bit us in the ass. We fought in Korea and it bit us in the ass. We fought in Afghanistan and it bit us in the ass. We must like assbites. Did you know there has been only a 15 year period where there was not some war going on someplace on Earth? And don't forget the $Billions we are spending for 4 new aircraft carriers. It would just take one nuke to send a whole task force to the bottom. We just love spending money we don't have, and all at the taxpayer's dime. The rich get richer and the middle class gets poorer. 😡😡

Yeah, allies. Let me remind you of how the Soviet Union signed a Non-aggression pact with Hitler and only became your "friends" after Germany attacked them. They would have let the world burn with you in it if they did not need you to defeat the Germans. You were not, and never would be "allies". The USSR was only ever interested to working with you if they themselves were at major risk and not at any other time.

Also, being a super power is a zero sum game. The bigger they are, the smaller you become. They are your competitors that take the resources and privilege of being "number 1" out of your mouth. That is why USA spent a massive amount of resources to fight them and destroy them, because otherwise it was you on the chopping block. Coexistence was never an option.

Also there has never been a time in human history without war. The 15 year period you are talking about is specifically about the time USA has been at peace since its a war mongering nation.

But yeah, I dont actually like USA being a super power. If you want to throw away your own nations success because you have some naive idea of saving tax payer money then go ahead, I won't cry. I just think its stupid is all.

@Soteris If you don't have the money to pay your mortgage payment do you keep spending on other things? No, if you want to remain in your house you cut spending. All the US does is keep printing money and therefore raising inflation. If everyone in the US paid $1,000 a month it would take us 21 years to pay off our current national debt. For every $trillion they print it takes longer with devalued dollars. I'm guessing , but it seems like a push to go with a cashless society. Let's see what benefits are cut to save money, like Social Security. It has been raided before. I'm sure Congress and Biden will still get their paychecks even though no one else in Government will in a shut down. California almost went bankrupt a could of times, one with Swartznnegger.

First of all, a country is not like a person, or a company or whatever. A country does not go bankrupt like normal nor do they treat currency the same. A country can more or less just ignore debt, and in fact some amount of debt can even be considered healthy. Even a country such as Russia which before the war collected a massive amount of reserve cash and gold to defeat any future sanction still chooses to take out debt even when they dont need to.

Printing money is also not as bad as you make it out to be, specifically because when the government prints money they get to use it before inflation kicks in and lowers the value. Lastly, a cashless society has literally nothing to do with any of this. Its just about people using cards to pay rather than coins or paper bills.

Also, it is unconstitutional to not pay congressmen and such to my knowledge. In other words, their compensation is written into the constitution and as such USA is forced to pay them regardless.

And on their congressional pay they seemingly all retire as millionaires many times over. What a racket! And yet we keep re-electing these fleecers. 😡

*shrugs* In this case they had nothing to do with it. The constitution is what determines the structure of the US government which means the positions of the house and senate is defined including that they are paid. It has probably nothing to do with them trying to protect their own paycheck and more to do with how the country was formed and in what document it was recorded into. Since it is in the constitution it becomes constitutionally protected. Simple as that.
