Because its the intelligent thing to do. Maybe you aren't as smart as you think. Some of the dumbest people are assured of their intelligence.

Because the more you learn, the more you realize just how much there is that you don't know, and intelligent people like to learn. This gives a sense of intellectual humility, and prompts self-reflection.

Bluntly, smart people question everything.

Because that is how you generally improve your own views, positions and intelligence. You can't fix something you are doing wrong if you are unaware of the fact that it is in fact wrong. As such, it does not really matter how smart someone is if they dont also look at themselves critically.

It's a sign of intelligence to question your intelligence and see it from all different angles. When your in sciences, you are taught to hypothesize and the question/test your theory.
