Morals are also animalistic - as a rule, we are animals so there is absolutely nothing we can do that isn't animalistic. When we see someone innocent in pain it evokes an animal big-feeling response to stop it, or at least want it stopped. And basically all of the fundamental morals are ways we found are somewhat effective in trying to avoid accidentally inflicting pain on the innocent.

But, we don't like to think of our big feelings as monkey feelings because that way leads to the despair of knowing we are alone in the universe and that death is as inevitable as it is final. So, we have tried to imagine our big feelings actually come from a higher power because we are magic creatures who will live forever. And that's where it all goes wonky because we are none of that and to believe we are means we must turn to others to tell us so. Those people quickly understood that manipulating or coercing other people is the only thing like a magic power there is - speaking mere words resulting in mountains being moved is wizardry from the perspective of the speaker. Otherizing the laborers only helps that illusion of power, but that's another topic.

In any case, leaders outside of an intentionally collaborative government, like a democracy, tend to centralize and eventually the moral authority becomes the same person who is in charge of guarding the food from foreigners. It is not rocket science to figure out moral justifications for xenophobia once someone is in that positions and pretty much all religios morals are derived from that.

Morals were created over time to deal with the absolute " extreme " , like having sex with your sister , or taking advantage of a bucksome looking well advanced for her age 13 year old ( or in other cultures less ) , from there they became often unwritten tribal laws , and extended and evolved as the community did , I think they work hand in hand with animalistic.

Did we create morals? I have to say I don't think so, because I think deep down humans really do want to be as bad as they wanna be. But most of us won't go that far because we also know deep down that there is right and wrong, and there is karma.

Not sure where you stand on faith, but I do believe in God and the Bible so my view is that he is the one who created morals, and he created us to know right from wrong.

Im unsure what you mean by ‘animalistic.’

but to answer the other part of your question, we created morals to hopefully stave off the worst part of human nature. But unfortunately there’s no such thing as universal moral values anymore. It’s about what you truly believe to be right vs wrong in life.

Morals and ethical systems were developed by humans as a way to guide and regulate our behavior within society. While humans have some inherent animalistic instincts, our capacity for reason, empathy, and social organization led to the development of moral codes to create order, cooperation, and a sense of right and wrong within communities. Morality helps us navigate the complexities of human interactions and work together for the common good, even if we still retain some primal instincts.

Because we stay animalistic. We wouldn't NEED morals if we could easily do it unassisted.

Who said we stay “animalistic”. And fyi, even in the wild animals show empathy and “morals” per se. It’s hard to study their brains.

When I get manic and emotional I search for heartfelt animal vids on YouTube. One matriarch of a different herd of elephants literally pulled a baby from the other herd out of a well.

How are people animalistic? Deep down we try to help others in their time of need, we even help our enemies children whenever we can and that's not animalistic at all.
And Morals were created by God for us.

You answered your own question!!! Morals are designed to regulate us so we don't treat others "animalisticly".

Morals give us humans something to shoot for, even though they are often hard to achieve.

Morals set us apart from the animals. Lose that, and we lose our humanity, making us no better than animals.

because morals are aspirational, if you don't meet them that's bad... but not as bad as not having them at all.

the lower you set the bar, the lower people will go under it.

Animalistic is a survival mechanism, morals is a social mechanism.
