Where do morals come from?

Morals come from stories. Usually Greek myths and children's fairy tales.
If you're asking about morality and ethics on the other hand, it comes from philosophy and introspective thought about things like right and wrong and how a society should work for the majority of people.
Morality does not come from any religion claiming that the source of all morality is belief in their specific God. Because their "God" is always an invention of old men with an agenda to control other people for power and wealth. The "morality" they believe in is always some sick twisted thing. It sort of negates their entire morality claim from the start.
Ok, so… Philosophers call this problem pragmatic moral realism. Morals are guiding principles about right and wrong, shaped by empathy, reason, and the need to live together. I believe there are core moral truths that are objective, like the value of life or the importance of justice. However, how those truths are understood and applied depends on time, place, culture, and individual experience. So, while morality has an objective foundation, people often interpret it subjectively. It's not one or the other but rather a mix of both.
There are some things which my parents taught me as a kid "This is wrong. This is the right/good thing to do" So, there are some things I learned from guidance and some from experience, but there were so many situations in which I wasn't exactly told "this is right and this is wrong" but I made the decision by using rational thinking. So, I'd say morals come from rational thinking.
Aaaaah! One of my favorite questions... Some are reflexive (inborn) instincts and others are imposed (acquired) by family and society. (https://www. britannica. com/topic/ethics-philosophy/Socrates)

Empathy, basically: "How would you feel if your situations were reversed?"
Musk has said: “The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy,” Musk said, adding that liberals and progressives are “exploiting a bug in Western civilization, which is the empathy response.”
