Where do your morals come from?

If you have anything that is, personally mine comes from religion and how I was raised, where does yours come from? 🤔

• Personal observations?
• Core personality or character?

On top of those basics and later on, adolescence and beyond, lots of enforcement through reading. Serious things like philosophy, psychology, soft science etc. Also the entertaining parts, at this point, science-fiction (the "good" one) brought a lot on my table, really a lot of things to think about, morally speaking. I didn't have any religious background through family nor circles, I'm interested in the topic though, but only from an analytical perspective.

Common sense. Social expectations of what is right and what is wrong.

I would say everyone has morals. Some may have different morals to others. But 99% of the population have more or less the same morals.

That's true, I guess the difference remains in the core of where they come from for each individual, good observation tho doozy

Generally you learn from who raises you. You may say yours comes from religion but even if you've always been religious you haven't always understood religion but you can have morals from a very young age

Yea but those morals evolved because I studied religion, the religion I grew up in, I always believed but I've only believed, I didn't pay attention to the word, I learned a lot of things that helped shape my mentality, a good example would be that before 18 I had the whole " go fuck hoes and chase money mentality" my parents tried the best they could with everything but it's not until I self willingly chose to listen to the scripture that helped with the change, I know if I never grew the care that I did I would've probably already had sex with multiple women, never quit drugs and more than likely would have killed a few people.

I've disobeyed my parents a lot growing up, id only listen to them if I agreed with what they were telling me, but my religion plays a big part in that grow in morality for me, just how I assume common sense plays a huge part in yours, that's something we remain different on because common sense never mattered to me, what stopped me was that I was and am a god fearing being, I'm telling u now, I've been close to blowing people's heads off before, knowing the common sense id most likely go to prison after or that I took a life wasn't a concern but how God would view me after was, it's also helped me stop several people from making the same mistake and taking a life and I can't just discredit religion from that.

That's great. One of the reasons I'm not 100% against religion is because it does that for people

I know religious people can be pretty much frustrating by how they behave or act sometimes but don't be angry at the religion, be angry at the people, that's of course if you are going to hold hatred at all, after all it's pretty messed up to blame the teachings when the teachers are the issue, but it was a good short discussion, thanks for sharing.

Many of them how my mum Raised me and others cause of life expirience. From Religion i mostly have none, which doesn't mean ibdont believe in god which i definetly. I just live my life
