Could hugs change the world and end war?

Back in the mid `80's, when I was in college, I started putting a petition around that said something like, "We, the undersigned, feel that arms were made for hugging, not fighting!". I carried it around the campus with me for a while and had a lot of people sign it but, it didn't do much good except to show that people want peace, not war.
Around the same time, there was a world-wide thing going on called, Hands Across America, where, originally, people at one coast at a specific date and time, would hold hands in a very long line that stretched all the way to the other coast. (I say, world-wide because, from what I heard, people in other countries were doing it, too and, I guess the last person on each coast would put their hand in the water in hopes that someone on the other side was doing the same to make the link-up. I think it was a kind of peaceful war protest. Maybe it was just something to say that we are all one and can help everyone else in need, or something like that. The people I hung out with at the college I went to all participated. We had a picnic where the line was gonna be and, at the time it happened, we all stood up and held hands with the others in the line.

War will never end because there are people in this world, governments around the world that use their military strength to show it's dominance and push for a dominant politically-driven ideology, war is about profiting. The wars in Iraq were not based on WMD's by Saddam Hussain, although a dictator himself. The US used Saddam as a puppet in Middle East affairs to strike Iran and take more natural resources to bolster US supremacy, US currency, US value. War is a political, profit game and these politicians we vote for on the right or left don't have what's in your best interest or others. If the country you live in makes you feel 2 feet tall, why defend it if they allow people to drown in debt or die on the streets. I do think we will see another Great Depression and World War III before things get better. Of course, I wish things improved but they won't because of how much money and greed people have, ego's, maintaining their beliefs. End of the day, have to believe in God, people have to stop believing in politicians as Gods. This world is a test and whoever is committing acts of evil will be punished by God one day.

while more hugs could make a kinder world, who knows if it could end war, in the end there are just nasty people out there that enjoy being nasty that you just can't reach, but doesn't mean you should stop trying. these days people have gotten meaner, nastier, more callous in how they treat others, my own take from that is how they must treat their so called loved ones.

Good luck with that. You're going to hug it out with Muslim terrorists who cut off the limbs and heads of Israeli babies in front of their parents and lit them on fire burning them alive and who kidnaped and raped children and then cut off their heads?

I don't know about a war, but there are a lot of lonely people out there, who could use some kindness. It's a pity that people are only nice to those who are rich, young (a lot of elderly people are lonely), or pretty
