I Am very depressed, how To Deal With Hopelessness And Helplessness In War Times?

Since the war in Ukraine i have been feeling horrible, all the talk about WW3 and end Of humanity with nuclear weapons. Things that are totally out of my control and comprehension. And things are just getting worse. These events make me think is life even worth it anymore. Many people in ukraine built houses and businesses just to lose all of that and live as refugees. or lose their lives. I knew wars have been there since the dawn of time. But it wasn't at that scale. Were u can destroy the whole world with a bomb

Ever since I was a child I was told by society, the world is going to end, WWIII, the Russians were going to unleash a nuclear bomb, the change in climate control would kill us, etc. That was 35 years ago, it still hasn’t happened. I can understand at your age your mentality is far different from mine, even at 18 my mentality was different than yours. I joined the military because I wanted to fight. My son is 18, not much younger than you. As a father I’ve tried to prepare him as best as I could for the same things you’re concerned about should it happen. Educated him, showed him how to train w firearms, martial arts, etc. Hopefully he will never have to use that training, but if he does he knows how. But it wasn’t just all combative training either, it was patience, remaining calm, being a gentleman, etc. As time goes on your mind will change, yes we’re all afraid of something but the key is to not show it. I’m not picking on you in general but it seems as though a lot of men your age these days have been feminized. Weak. You still have to keep treading on no matter what. Sure I face the fact that some day I may die because of something beyond my control. I sure as hell won’t stop trying to prevent it from happening even if I know I don’t have a chance. You sound as though you’re just giving up on a “possibility,” not something that’s set in stone that will for sure happen. Have some heart. Imagine if you don’t try, continuing w your life not prospering, 20 years from now realizing none of what was said ever came true. You’d just be a sad, pathetic man 20 years from now because you gave up on the possibility of all these bad things happening. In order for these things to change, people must change. So if you’re hoping to maybe one day change all this, then put yourself in the position to do so. Whether that means going to school, joining the military, etc. Buck the fuck up.

Thanks u sooo much🙏ur words gave me a lot of strength and hope. I am still scared but i feel that there is Something at least i can do. Yes i know our generation is soft. But this was beyond our planning we were raised in so much comfort even cuss words are getting censored in the media, in many countries u r not allowed to even see a gun let alone use it, they shun even the least forms of self defense. They Try to convince us that being weak and passive is forgivness.

But you know that’s wrong. So do what you can to improve yourself if things are available like martial arts, firearms raining, ems, educate yourself mentally as well. Exercise daily if you can. Better to be prepared n not have to house it then to not be prepared at all. What country do you live in?

Yes i will start ems as its the easist to access. And check where i can do a firearm training. I live in egypt. We didn't have a serious war since 1973. And gun access is very restricted for civillians here. Even gun training is not accessable for civillians.

Figure it out man don’t just sit around w your thumb up your ass. I get that there’s some things out of your control but there’s also a lot of things in your control. Control what you can to change your life as well as for those around you who you care about. Do you have a girlfriend? Kids?

No i dont have a family of my own yet i will start to think about it after i find a stable job. But i have my parents who i care about.

So do what you need to do to make that all happen. Trust men as much as society says toxic masculinity, most women still want a man who is going to provide, be a protector. More than likely your wife is going to look at you when things get hard. How is she supposed to have respect for you or faith in you if you’re cracking at the seams in times of danger?

I am trying as well and until recently i was positive that Ukraine war will end. But now the US is joining a war in the middle east and Biden said it will be a long war that will expand to other regions. I hope our world have some peace sooner than later
