In America a man has shot dead two unarmed protesters blocking a road. It was done in front of reporters. I'm sure you've seen the story. Interestingly despite plenty of time no one shot the shooter which makes me think the other drivers supported him.
But the question I want to ask is, deep down is this the real reason Americans carry guns? They want to have the power to deal with life's problems by threatening people with a gun, killing them if need be?
The impression I get is if you irritate an American he'll see it as an excuse to shoot you, that you all go around looking for the tiniest of reasons to pull your gun.
I'm sure on rare occasions you shoot real bad guys but isn't it true mostly it's you just want to be a hero so you blow away someone who's rude or drops litter. That your all just a bunch of Karens with guns.
Oh it's very common in this country that some people who own guns like having them because it makes them feel powerful or badass. They like knowing that if they ever felt really disrespected then they have something to make someone respect them. Guns for them mean control and power.
I've known people my entire life who have a house full of guns and actually pray for the day someone tries to break into their house. They say it all the time and talk about it nonstop. They literally want to legally take a life. Which is so bizarre to me. It's not "I never ever want to use my gun but if I am backed against the wall and have absolutely no choice then It will protect me" its: "Let somebody break in, I'm ready, come get some, I can't wait"
That's just sociopathy, plain and simple. Wanting to kill someone isn't normal at all but thats what you get in this country. Mental illness and personality disorders with full access to weapons that can kill multitudes of innocent people. Sometimes over things like, "I don't feel like I fit in so everybody dies" or like your example: "Someone disrespected me so they deserve to die, because I'm a narcissist and I'm the most important."
It's maddening. I don't know how this all ends honestly. Nobody seems to want to really fix it. It happens all of the time and people just say "oh well, another day"
This goes for the gun issue and mental health issues. Nobody is trying to fix any of it.
Oh I have for sure. The city I live in now is heavily populated so it's not like some of the more backwoods towns in my state so most people here are kind of on the same page and it's hitting a fever pitch of more people in my area saying "ok, enough is enough, what are we gonna do about this bullshit?"

Yes, that sums them up surprisingly well: Karens with guns. No one on this earth actually needs a gun, and the argument that is often put forward that "we need them for self-protection, because the world is a dangerous place" is just utter bullocks! Where I live (a small country town of about 1500 people) no one I know of has a gun, and yet I feel completely safe and secure enough to go out late at night on my own. Our local police station is closed half the time, because there's no one there, so it's not because of that.
It's peaceful here precisely because no one here feels the need to possess a long, hard phallic symbol that spouts projectiles. An entirely different culture and attitude to life could make the USA just like the civlised nations of the globe, just like New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Denmark. But no, they're too violent (just try and watch their unwatchable movies - it's all gun battles, car chases and explosions), and the only thing keeping their country afloat economically is the military-industrial complex that their president Eisenhower warned them all about.

These people blocking roads... they're not taking into account my family member in the back of that ambulance that can't get through now, or the firemen that can't save my family from a burning building because they're behind two miles of stopped cars.
If I find myself or my loved one in a medical emergency, I'm going to just run them over, but if they're going to barricade the road with big rocks and stuff, I guess I have to get out and shoot them so I can move the rocks though, right? Otherwise they'd just put them back.
I'm as big "save the planet" as the next guy. Probably more, but it's unrighteous arrogance to assume you're sitting on the road is the most important thing going on right now in the lives of everyone around you. It's the same as protesting climate change by hacking 911 (or whatever emergency services number used in your country) to bring light to melting polar caps. You're making people hate you and by default, hostile to your cause due to the actions you're taking. That's not how you drum up support.
Yep they are just read the comments. They're probably masturbating thinking about the day they get an excuse to shoot someone. And the self defense laws in the U. S. are such a joke that a lot of people do get away with murder. Just the way some of these people talk in these confrontations you can tell they're just waiting for this chance. And finally they can feel important and powerful.

I was in the military and used a gun every day for 10 months and I never felt the need to make it part of my identity like these people do. Nor did anybody else. And after I was done with my service I just moved on with my life.
They're sick. Not just the people who set out to commit mass shootings but also people like this: People who will kill over perceived disrespect, or deliberately escalate situations, or think about how they can justify killing someone in court and try and create such a situation, or wait for an opportunity to arise that can be manipulated into a "justified" shooting.
No. I have the ability to carry a weapon but don’t usually do it. I was trained in the Army and received an “Expert” rating for rifle and pistol. I have since become much better I think. I want to stay away from road rage when carrying a weapon as it leads to disaster. I am much more forgiving when carrying as are many like me on gun forums as that is where I learned this.
I don’t know this guy’s story but clearly he is fed up with a lot of things and this just pushed him to the point where he said “F it, I’m going to teach these SoBs they can’t do this with impunity”. Young arrogant people better be aware that older guys are near their expiration date anyway and will consider it a civil service for providing an example of why you shouldn’t do such things.
That said, before Covid there were major riots in a city near me right down where I needed to go to work. I went to work but had an AK Pistol on the passenger seat. No one was going to drag me from my car and hit me with a brick in the head. The state I was in your car is like your home in terms of self defense laws so the law was in my favor if they reached in a broken window. The first shot would be in the arm reaching in to me as the blood splatter would show they were inside the vehicle. There were two occasions on different years that I prepared based on riots but it was just a nice quiet ride.

Oh how wrong you are. Just cause people have guns doesn’t always mean they carry them. I have 10 guns, because I love them. I spent 10 years in the military. As a matter of fact a lot of the people I served w still have guns as well who don’t carry. Too much of a liability. Besides I’ve never felt threatened or felt like I needed it. My brothers have guns as well. Sometimes we go to the range just to shoot for fun. Target practice. Hunting. Indoor firing range. The guns are not all the same, some for long range shooting, if you’re hunting deer or something like that. Shotguns for birds, etc, etc, etc. Trust me I’m not out looking to be a hero, a lot of people aren’t. Sometimes things happen. America isn’t as bad as you think it is. The majority of people who say such things who live in this country have never been anywhere else. So they have nothing to compare it to. Just the same as foreigners who have never been here. Does shit happen? Sure but a lot of times that’s shit that happens to people who were involved in shit they shouldn’t have been involved in. Drugs, murder, theft, etc. I worked in the prison for 5 years, you hear it all. I’ve been to one particular country where kids were eating corn out of feces. But I will say a lot of Americans are spoiled, again they’ve never been out of country. If this is such a bad country’s why are there still so many illegals trying to still come here?
In Lewiston Maine the two places that the shooter went to were places that prohibited people from bringing their guns inside. Maine has an open carry law but businesses have the option to ban guns on the premises. The shooter obviously knew this. You know the result.
I have seen firsthand how harmful stereotypes can be. In fact, my excessive discussions of anal sex often lead to cyberbullying and trolling accusations, causing me to be booted from social forums regularly. I am not surprised someone has finally shot some protestors blocking the road. People got shit to do and if you want to protest you can do it where you aren't getting in everyone's way. And yes majority of drivers likely do support the guy. As for why Americans carry guns the real reason is in event our government attempts to take our guns or becomes tyrannical. Just stop oil protestors are a great example of the kinds of people Americans do not tolerate. The sheer number of videos of them blocking the roadways all they are really doing is getting people mad and since the police are not doing anything people are taking matters into their own hands. If the police did what they were supposed to people would probably not be as willing to deal with the problem themselves

Do people not realize this incident happened in PANAMA? It's a country in Central America, completely separate from the U. S. Sounds like the shooter was born in the Panama Canal Zone, which would technically make him an American, but he lives in Panama. Different laws, different gun culture and different protest culture. We can't assume this would have happened in the U. S. It even says under Panamanian law, that he probably won't even get jailed because of his age, and he probably knew this, especially if he was a lawyer. But I honestly don't blame him for snapping. People world wide have had enough of road blockers. No one has a right to prevent someone's freedom of movement. I can still tolerate blocking roads to tourist attractions, but not the main road for commerce and services. I'm surprised this doesn't happened more often, honestly. But this is what happens when police don't do their job. Though I'm not sure what the laws are in Panama in regards to road blocking.

I know British news, especially The Daily Mail aren't specific when it comes to cities with multiple names. But I thought the Spanish, dark people and Panamian flags in the video would give it away, though with so many Hispanics in the U. S., maybe not. But I am indeed curious as to how she came to the conclusion that this occurred in the U. S.
You know, we can thank the British for the continual discussions of guns in the US. If the British soldiers had not seized guns (rifles and shotguns) from American farmers during the American Revolution (the Colonial Revolt, as England described it), there would be no 2nd Amendment, and the US would most likely be dealing with guns the way that other countries do.

I don't agree with that man shooting them but DAMN these protestors need to stop that shit and protest a different way. they are costing the way of life of so many people, they have a family to feed and can't afford to just be stalled by clown like those while bill gates pollutes the air with his private jet along with all the other million/billionaires but they go and want to stop the average person making a living from getting to their job to get paid? makes ZERO SENSE! it's ridiculous and not worth it to get into any altercation because of that much less DIE for that. There is a big difference between blocking a road and dropping a soda can by the side of the road. I would not get my gun and shoot one of these assholes but running them over with my truck is not off the table. You can protest until you are blue in the face because that is your right and I support it but just keep out of my way and don't interfere in my business.

You greatly overestimate how many people have a firearm in the US. But those who do need them for various reasons: police don't have to and cannot protect everyone many gun owners live in rural areas and need to protect themselves from animals as well as potential assailants They are hunters
But I like to add that numbers between 37 and 48 percent are normal { per house hold} this is exclusive the illigal guns... So I think it is save to say that 50... 55 percent of guns per household.

I would say that out of any sample of 100 people a certain percentage are going to be Karens. There was a story a while back about a woman who couldn't get to a hospital because of these shitstains were block the road and wouldn't let her pass, so I think this man is doing us all a favor by eliminating these people.
