Did you know that John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated 60 years ago today?

What are your thoughts or memories about that event?

I was 9 years old, in the 4th grade at a Catholic elementary school.
I remember being in class, sometime after noon, when our teacher, a nun, came in and said the President had been shot. We knew it was important because she was visibly shaken. But, beyond that, I didn't know anything about the world and it didn't shake me up.

At home, it was on the news for days. My parents were Kennedy supporters, but they didn't share their thoughts of feelings with my younger sister and I because they always protected us from "upsetting" reality. But the import of the event sank in as I watched the news reports and videos.

I saw LBJ being sworn in, Oswald being assassinated, and JFK's funeral.

Weeks or months later, we were given an art project to sculpt something by carving a bar of Ivory soap. I created a sculpture of the Eternal Flame that burns on Kennedy's grave.

Almost exactly 20 months earlier on March 23, 1962, JFK had briefly shaken my hand from his convertible limo when his motorcade drove slowly by the people who had gathered to line the street when he arrived in my city.

I was 9 years old. I remember coming home from school and Mom had it on the TV. She was visibly shaken up.

I didn't really grasp the whole concept for a while.

What bothered me the most were the vivid nightmares his death gave me, as I hadn't been told about real death.
It scared me to know if someone could shoot the president dead, that we were all a target for the shooter.

I had vivid 🌃 after they started showing his casket with the flag over it. I remember the nightmares. His casket was under my bed, and while I was sleeping, his casket would open up on both sides and he would put both of his arms around my body (torso) and keep me there with his dead arms holding me down in my bed.
I had that nightmare so many times!

I wanted to watch other things on TV because the whole thing scared me so bad.
It left a scar on me.

Someone had the nerve to post his assassination on twitter. Shit almost traumatized me seeing his head explode like a can of tomatoes. I thought that shit only happened in movies. It was so sad

I was very divided at the time... being embryo and sperm... kinda like epoxy, I wasn't quite mixed yet. in fact was way behind in the line of embroy's and I'll never know whom else was ahead of me other than my brother, they never got to live... makes me sad...

anyway, I saw this on TV and shocked me. Oswald being killed was a screaming example of... govt coverup and BS. I don't believe the official story at all.

My sincere guess is the I_______'s had him killed. It ensured they were able to gain the power to defend themselves. They are one of the few groups that could get away with this.

I waws 8 years old and in fourth grade. I remember an announcement by the principal over the PA system, and an announcement that buses would take us home early that day. Yes, the television (only ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS back then) carried nothing but news of the assassination and unfolding events for several days. I was also watching when Oswald was shot. To me, it was just something on television and it all seemed unreal; it's probably fortunate that I processed it that way at that age.

i’m still convinced that lee harvey oswald was coerced into doing it by the mafia. They were the ones that helped get jfk into office and then him and his brother double cross them and start going after jimmy hoffa and the teamsters union. Meyer lanksy was also directly involved in pre castro Cuba with his casinos too.
