Rent or buy a property?

Which do you prefer? Rent or buy for example buy a property or rent a property?

If truth be told it all depends on your situation & if you plan on staying in the area where you live & you have a decent job buying is the way to go. On the flip side if you don’t plan on staying in your area or you don’t want the hassle of maintaining a property & you want to throw money away renting is the way to go. As for me my thoughts are why pay someone else’s mortgage renting if you can pay your own & when you pay your mortgage off it’s like you are living rent free & you can actually save money toward your future.

As for me I lived in apartments over the years & I ended up relocating to where I live now & year after year the rent when up & I said fuck it & bought a house because it was cheaper & I got tired of throwing my money away. Two years ago I paid my house off.

Depends on your life. Not going to move for 10plus years could be worth while to look at the housing market and seeing mortgage rates.

Need to be adjustable renting is 100% way to go.

i bought my smaller condo in 2016 because it was on par renting with a roommate. Got lucky refinancing in 2020 with morgage rates record low. That's far from todays mortgage rates of 8% intrest you pay.

For the foreseeable future your better off putting your money in a "high yeild savings account" getting 4% intrest you earn. Throwdown whatever you don't need now. And a mock mortgage payment monthly and you'll be ready for when market is best for you.

I think either is fine, of course to Own it would be better, you can really make it your own, pass it down etc. but my god that’ll just be impossible for so many people and it’s only getting worse. Renting is fine, it has lots of perks, especially if you have a great and friendly Landlord. You don’t need to worry about something breaking down in most cases.

I got very lucky and live on a beautiful acreage with 10 acres of land for only $1000/month no utilities. I don’t feel bad about renting right now, but hopefully that will be our next endeavour.

I do not know what it's like to rent property cause the last time we rented I was under the age of 9 and living in my second Canadian home before moving into our first house in Canada.

Renting is a never ending cesspit of spending money with nothing to show for yourself. it doesn't give you anything useful.

Rent, i can still make money and i can increase the price in time, even more if the area develop fast

3 years ago, my neighborhood houses were around 400-500k, today they're over 800k valuation. If you're in a good area and plan to be there for at least a year; purchasing is the only way to go.
