Why all the hate for Henry Kissinger?

He has passed away at 100. But it seems like people are actually celebrating his death for some reason.

Ah, maybe that's why I saw a flag at half mast today. I was wondering who died.

When he was active, largely during the Nixon years, he was a bit of a mystery. I always thought he was brilliant. But what he did with that brilliance is open for debate. I don't remember for sure, but I suspect he was behind Nixon's warming of relations with both The Soviet Union and China. He visited both countries, both of which were high profile. The visit to The Soviet Union was basically the beginning of the end of the cold war. It eventually led to a massive reduction in the nuclear arsenals of both countries - like a 90% reduction.

I would say my memory of him back then was positive, but with reservations. He was obviously brilliant, but there was always a part of me that wondered what he was really up to, and whether I should be concerned. I just got a vibe that he was sneaky, but never had any solid reason for thinking that other than a vibe.

no idea. He did his job, lived a long life. tried to make peace where it wasn't so easy. doesn't mean he's perfect.

Yet me makes it to 100 ? What he did in Vietnam alone was horrendous , and he did much much more than just that.

Because the left aren't human. Death is tragic.. The loss of human life is tragic. The only time its necessary and possibly good, is in the case of child molesters, rapists, and evil people like Hitler. The left dont value life, all they care about is what the media tells them to care about, and they feel like political affiliation is a reason to hate anyone that disagrees with them..

It's easy to criticize someone who is no longer there to defend themselves... if they even need to do that.

Plus, Kissinger was active before many of the critics were even born, so it's easy to rewrite history.
