Not being a sports fan, I don't - at that level - really have a vested interest in this question. However, here we have, yet again, preening moralists picking on a little boy for their own self-satisfaction. It is appalling.

It reminds me of the episode with the young man - his name escapes me at the moment - who was accused of being a racist because he smiled at a Native American protester. The theme is the same. Feigning moral outrage in the name of patting oneself on the back for one's self-presumed virtue.

The nation is, at the moment, going through a repeat of the 1960s and 70s, this time aggravated by the technology of social media. So now little boys will pay the price as the nation indulges in its' cultural temper tantrum.
