nope, not impressions...

impressions are mostly assumptions, and based on limited perceptions too... sometimes yes, there might be very VERY clear things that are more obvious, but I would not call that an impression, I call it evidence, lol... but these are rare and specific

with all of the other things, I rather confirm or make sure about my first impressions and I do try to actually get to know more about this person or the situation

it's part of a possible decision making... but not the only factor for me to entirely decide

The first impression is subconscious so of course it takes a significant part in the first evaluation.

But...

We are intelligent beings and we don't have to base on it. It is wise to take it under consideration, because if first impression is negative it could mean there is something we can't see. But if I want to make any decision I rather invest time into learning this person, than letting autopilot to lead me.

No. You simply can catch someone on the wrong day or a very happy day and meeting someone for the first time doesn't tell you nothing about them.

You actually have to give it time to know someone.
