As a dark skinned black woman I was pulled over by a white police officer?

I was pulled over today by a white police officer and he said I was going 55 in a 30 zone. I told him I thought I was going the speed limit. I gave him my license and than he gave it back to me and told me it's just a warning and he wouldn't give me a ticket. I was so relieved 😅... why do you think he changed his mind?

Aw man, that's always scary getting pulled over. I probably would've been sweatin' up a storm too in your shoes! But it's good he let you off with just a warning.

My guess is maybe the cop could tell you weren't tryna break any rules on purpose, and were just a little inexperienced with that area or something. He saw it was an honest mistake. Or maybe he realized 55 wasn't THAT far over and let you slide since it was your first offense.

It could also be cause you were polite and respectful when talking to him. Some cops might be more lenient if they see you're not tryna cause problems. Definitely smart you didn't argue about the speed though - don't wanna risk getting him in a bad mood!

And between us, I think it probably helped you're a woman. Can't say for sure, but seems like they go easier on us sometimes vs dudes. Might've played a tiny part too, who knows.

Either way, I'd count yourself lucky sis! Just be more careful next time - don't wanna push your luck. But hey, at least now you know the cops in that neighborhood aren't total hardasses either. Crisis averted!

Most cops will give people a break if you have a clean record. If people report you for aggressive driving or you’re given a warning, your license plate is put in the system and next time you won’t be so lucky.
