What key characteristics do you think make a good leader?

I’ve seen many examples from civilian jobs, to seeing our elected officials as well as leaders from the military and I also held leadership positions in the military myself.


That being said, being considerate, caring, supportive, understanding, having a strong will, bravery, bold, protective and SELFLESS; just to name a few are all characteristics that I personally feel make outstanding leaders.


Having these is how you not only are looked up too by your subordinates but are also respected

Someone who knows how to attract people to the idea
Someone who listens to and considers other points of view
Someone who focuses on people more than on tasks and schedules
Someone who is transparent and does their job (leading by example)
Someone who addresses the issues and doesn't shame people
Someone who can shield their team

ONE is key... the best, great leaders are also/have been good followers too

I could not agree more. That’s a core pillar. They’re intertwined. A good leader that was once a good follower knows what it means to be a good follower, and vise versa, what expectations followers seek within their leaders
