Honesty integrity and a genuine care for their constituents. I'll vote for any man I genuinely believe puts the countries best interests above their own. All politicians are going to make mistakes and have to make constituents will hate but that's politics. As long as I know they care about the country more than themself than even if they do things I disagree with at least I know they're doing his best on behalf of the people, and I only want politicians who care about the nation running it. No politician is perfect I care more about their motives and effort. I wish Berni had won back in the first Trump election but the fucking Dems ruined their best shot at fixing the country and turned on the closest thing they had to a chosen one and made him excommunicado trattoris. If Berni had run he would have beat Trump and stopped his attempts to build his cult of personality in it's tracks but no the dems needed their pliable token leader to the party. A weak old man with no spine or cares of the country left. Biden was a shit president only slightly better than Trump.

I don't think the qualities of the person matter that much you have to create a system where it's harder for people to abuse it. Decentralize some of the power, have a proportional voting system. Even have some direct democracy if it's feasible. It also depends on who's voting of course, how educated they are on average, how angry and blinded by emotion they are in that moment etc.
