Ego is bad. If a leader surrounds himself with yes men and won't listen to anyone who tells him he may be wrong, that's bad. If you think you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room.

honestly i think the main issue isn't with politicians but with the system of indirect representation. indirect representation without any legal obligations to actually act in favor of the people you were elected to represent, that entire indirect democracy things is actually not democratic at all.

I would say dishonesty because if you cannot trust a politician then why vote for them to be in power. sadly it is the one main trait that most of them have. It does not matter how good their policies are, if they are not honest then they are no good, because you would never trust them to deliver on their promises.

I think if you cannot see any way they are serving the country and the people in it, they are abusing the role they have been given, and in some cases not even trying to hide it. That's the worst.
The lies, self interest, ego, and everything else can be overlooked if you can see overall purpose.
