Do you care if people disagree with you?

If it is something you feel strongly about and someone disagrees with you do you argue or just not care?

I generally avoid having opinions and rely on "understandings" to think about the affairs of this world. So, when people 'disagree' with my understanding I want to know what I missed and if their explanation only underscores their own lack of understanding, instead relying on opinions that make them feel better, I can lose my interest in the conversation, and all future conversations with them (as they have shown their hand as being someone who prefers opinion over fact), in an instant.

And yes I see the hypocrisy in it, as it is just my opinion that fact should be preferable over opinion. I can only explain wh6: and that is because understanding situations is the only way to objectively determine what is causing failure and inefficiency. It seems people who rely on opinion just don't want to be discovered as the cause for any failure, and opinion allows them to select which facts to consider thus neatly avoiding the ones that highlight their own flaws. Whereas understanding relies on considering all facts with weight given to each based on what produces the observed outcome, rather than what makes us feel better about ourselves (or at least less bad). So, if we are to agree what "improvement" looks like in the world, and we are to agree that improvement is good, then the person with the "opinion" that actually results in that improvement is necissarily "right," and the other is wrong, even if that opinion includes a need for self improvement - even if that self improvement includes not getting mad when other people are "right."

Your observations and understanding are all just your own opinion based on your experiences which cannot be used as evidence for anything.

So you can't disguise your opinions as "facts" unless you have valid research that supports your views.

"Understandings" result in outcomes that can be reproduced at aypny time. If someone who "disagrees with me" wants to test any of those outcomes, I'm absolutely willing to do so. And it's not something that results in an outcome at all, then I'm not interested enough to have an "opinion" on it.

That's fine. On the internet nothing can really be demonstrated so it's safe for people to disagree without being shown they are wrong.

How can you demonstrate something in real life?

Depends on the disagreement. Here, you're basically disagreeing that causality exists, and so I would show causality happening.

not at all, I could possibly be wrong, but I doubt it.
At work because of our command structure I give orders/commands that are followed, but with that comes the weight of other's lives and safety depend on what I ask/tell them to do.
First and foremost is that everyone goes home, plain and simple, no discussion on that at all.
After that the lives and safety of others, and property.
They can make/build new stuff, so risking someone else over that is not worth it.
The command staff does meet and get together and make decisions, but many decisions do not have the luxury of time.
You base your decision on what your officers are telling you, years of experience and the situation and it is an ever-changing scene.
At home the Mrs. at times wonders how I am able to breath on my own, because I don't agree with her on things, but on a fire scene with 30 other departments coming in I kind of know what I am doing, but at home I don't clean the cat box correctly.
Go figure!
