China poses the biggest threat to themselves.

Chinese like to mimic. They have a bad reputation for reverse engineering ideas. They act submissive as a way of gaining good faith with their opponents. It's two faced behavior.

The Chinese are submissive to a fault. They allow themselves to be exploited from the perspective of outsiders. To the Chinese, it may be normal. It's not just there, you can see this behavior ingrained in them in other countries. It happens in the Middle East, it even happens in the US. This is why people fear them, they pose a threat in the collective because of how they treat themselves individually. People fear their backlash. China has a history within their own country of backstabbing because of this kind of repression. This is why there was/is a lot of drama surrounding the PRC.

They have a heavily skewd M:F ratio of about 1.3-1.4 because of their one child policy. What's amazing is their government still exerts control over their boys. Their fathers allowed their daughters to be murdered en masse instead of keeping their collective legs closed. Now, I hear they are being subservient to women, probably as a means of atonement. It's a nation of proverbial simps. They're falling over themselves trying to please women because of market shortage of women and choosing homosexuality at unprecedented rates. India has the same problem. This is why Asian men get the bad stereotype for being feminine. They don't stand up for themselves at appropriate times, such as when the government takes away your right to NOT have an abortion. Or when parent's intentionally abort females, as was the case in India.

This is also why they face a major population bomb. They talk as if someone will invade them, but it's likely they'll tear themselves apart from within if there is any call to violence. I hear they are being programmed to hate the Japanese again for no good reason:

We have the potential to commit the same sins here in the US because of some of our Marxist/socialistic policies. The major difference here is that our policies are found out of bilateral agreement between two opposing parties. In communist regimes, it's unilateral. The US has such policies for women, but we implemented those policies to protect them. The government serves the citizens in the US, it's the opposite in China. China used women as an instrument to enforce their policies.

The problem facing the US is there are a lot of women who are poor leaders and they're pushing policies that are detrimental to the entire populace, they're being backed and supported by "simpy" men. That's what many foreigns don't understand about the US. We empowered women long ago, but women are not by default good leaders just because they have a vagina. They are human just like the rest of us, perfectly imperfect.

There is absolutely no doubt about it. China poses an economic threat above all, but also a corrupting one, as US politicians and businesspeople adopt CCP norms. It poses a threat to US soft power and geopolitical relationships. But the threat is economic above all, which spills over into the military realm because military power is directly downstream from economic power.

China could one day fully export its repressive system to the US. It's certainly trying hard to do that via multiple transmission channels. China also poses the same threat to the rest of the world.

Economically more than anything else. If China ever decided to stop controlling the value of their currency to make exports more attractive, or if some moron like Trump decided to ban Chinese imports, the results would be catastrophic.

Walmart, Target, Kohls, etc. All these huge retail chains have one thing in common, a large percentage (about 70%) of the good on the shelves are made in China. Our smartphones are made in China. Video game consoles are made in China. A lot of medical equipment are made in China, etc.

Over $500B (billion) of wholesale imports per year from China which equates to more than $1T (trillion) dollars retail in annual imports. Sure some of the goods could be sourced elsewhere, but it would take years to develop those supply chains.

Would I like to see more products made in America? Absolutely, but the reality is we started outsourcing manufacturing in the 70's and we don't currently have the infrastructure to complete, and even if we did with our labor costs, the costs of all our consumer goods would increase dramatically.

With the proliferation of AI and robotics, in the not so distant future, since we are replacing labor costs with robots, and without the shipping cost and time involved, we will be able to compete with China in manufacturing again.

Well... China definitely threatens the "superpower" status of the US. Is it bad? No, it's natural, some would say it's capitalism incarnate. China begins to offer more than the US does to some countries. If the US can and will bid higher (and it definitely can, but it might decide not to, going for a military solution instead), it will survive, if it doesn't, it will at least lose its "superpower" status. In a world where American supercarriers can hit anyone anywhere, China begins to be seen as a hope for true freedom, as they constitute an incredible economic might as well as a military force seemingly capable to challenge a potential American onslaught. If they can survive the stealth bombers, I'd say they can survive anything the US can throw at them besides the nuclear strike (though they are capable of responding in kind, so it would be a big gamble for the US). I think it's a healthy challenge for the US, not really necessarily an existential threat. It's either the wake-up call for the traditional, freedom-oriented US or the death sentence for the new, militarily threatening US.

To use a Peloponessian War metaphor, China is Sparta to the US' Athens (though I initially thought it's going to be Persia to the US' Athens and Russian Sparta, which appeared to me as being just a little bit more fitting politically). If the US cannot correct itself, it will collapse. If it can, it will either strike a peace deal and rule the world together with China and possibly the BRICS initiative (which is generally hope-inspiring, as it's freedom and multipolar-oriented, except the Russian brick within the BRICS - still, this one is only threatening to Poland and the Baltic states, and it's not like anyone cares anyway) or maintain its domination, but with several commissions to China in the eastern hemisphere.

I guess? China has been pretty good at playing the soft diplomatic power game where as USA has been playing the hard power game AKA invade everything forever. This has allowed China to worm their way into a bunch of different places, most notably in Asia and Africa to replace what used to be American influence with their own.

As such China poses a real threat to USAs current position as a super power, not really to the point of dethroning USA completely but rather to take the wind out of USAs sail to a fairly substantial degree and turn a large part of the world against USA. Of course this would be devastating for USA politically and economically but only to a point and I can't see USA recovering and growing back to what they considered their golden age because of this.

But these things are mostly just relative. USA would appear to be mostly the same as right now while silently losing its hidden growth potential to go back to their previous dominating position that they used to have. Not something anyone would notice unless they understood what is going on.

Aside from that, no I do not think China poses any real threat and I do not think China can push further to actually dethrone USA as a super power. I mean, they technically should be able to do it but they are run pretty badly so its due to their own poor decision making and poor leadership.

But the rest of the world needs to be wary about our freedom of (economic) choices.

Where it looks to me as if China itself struggles with its own cultural and economical future.

Once we got rid of both - mankind will be able to build a better planet.
