My tree leads to Lady Godiva, and King Harold so kinda cool. But considering King lost and died in the battle Hastings, I am not royalty. also Lady Godiva had 9 kids so makes sense some of us would descend from her.

Am I proud? Nah I find it dumb to be proud of ancestry but it is an interesting fact and in another reality I could of been royalty today.

Very. I'm far more interested in them than most people would be but I love history. I like to reflect on all the generations that lived in different cultures under different regimes for me to have eventually grown up first generation in the United States. That alone is why one of my grandparents is a personal hero of mine despite him being a stubborn and often mean.

I still have a lot to learn about our heritage, what I do know is my great grandparents were immigrants from northern Europe. That must of been a hard life. I'm thankful 😊

Yes because they never went to war with each other until those evil white people showed up, just ignore the mass graves found in pre-Columbian settlements and the thousands flayed alive because those enlightened indigenous people thought the sun was asking for blood.

What are you talking about? Aboriginals lived in peace and comfortability with tribal systems before English convicts arrived. They declared 'terra nullius', that the land didn't have any people there. Because to the English they were just flora and fauna.

Am I wrong for feeling guilty over that past?

I find them mildly interesting. But I’m far removed from my ancestors and I don’t know anyone personally from Ireland, so I can’t say I’m proud of them. It just is what it is. I’m proud of things I personally accomplish, not factors out of my control.

No... I can be proud of things I personally accomplished. Being born in Germany is not one of them.

Yes, I am White and I am proud to be a member of the race that civilized the world and invented democracy, the concept of human rights, science, electricity, air travel, space flight, telecommunications, modern medicine, the automobile, photography, and the internet. I will not apologize for creating the modern world!

Kind of. Some 2000 years ago ''we'' kicked out the Romans permanently.

So: when you come to visit... don't forget to nicely knock on my door.

it's not my accomplishment so... I would not make it about pride

I do love my great-grandma though... and I do consider her the pilar of 'my background"

Yes, all of my grandparents were immigrants. They came to America, became citizens and worked hard and raised families. My parents were both WW2 veterans
