I don't believe in " benign slavery". And I don't think she does either. A lot of social media personalities I don't think necessarily believe what they peddle. They have a shtick, a gimmick, an act they put on to draw fans and subscribers which makes them money. And shock sells especially. You don't have to say anything meaningful, just be provocative. I can't persuade myself that she really believes slavery is just demonized and misunderstood or that women shouldn't vote. It's lunacy. It's gotta be an act.

Slavery has always been brutal and horrendous for those enslaved, you can go back to Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Serfs, the entire movement of people from Africa, to modern day slavery, there is nothing good to be said for it. The fact you can kill someone or treat them horrendously without any repercussions is one of the worst parts of any soceity.

It's not at all unlikely that some people treated their slaves very well, both in the US and elsewhere. That's not the point. What matters isn't how well slaves are treated, but that they're slaves. Everything else is secondary.

I don't know who the woman herself is, though, so no comment there.
