I think we all can easily fall into cult-like behavior. It’s easier than critically thinking.
And people can mistake constant questioning with critical thinking. It’s not mindless disbelief. It’s equating logic to reality.

Russia is continuing their way because they can retreat whenever they like. Ukraine cannot retreat. It’s a fight to survive for them.


HamAss attacked Israel and provoked a response they KNEW would come. Palestine is not a nation and had relied on terrorist attacks for decades with no progress in their aims. This war was calculated to force an invasion of Gaza and allow innocent people to bear the brunt of it so that HamAss could exploit their suffering into anti-Jewish propaganda. Israel cannot retreat as they will alter the landscape & future of Palestine forever.


Those are the two big wars everybody is talking about since they impact Western society but there are conflicts raging all over. They are usually only one-sided aggressor affairs.

I’m quite the student of history. I am aware of almost no wars and absolutely none in any urban environment that did not have civilian casualties. The lethality of modern warfare is absolutely horrifying. Yet, death to civilians does not convert everything into a war crime. It’s tragic but true.

Not since the Napoleonic era have we seen armies line up and trade shots at one another. Civilians have always borne the brunt of suffering in any war.

Nothing I said comes even close to that statement. Israel has done a lot more to evacuate and supply aid to people in its battle space than almost any other military in modern times. Perhaps only the US did better in Fallujah.

I think you misread my comments. I make no attempt to do so. The realities of warfares impact on civilian population centers have not changed that much since WWII. Even the Allies bombed Germany and Japan and caused horrific civilian casualties. The same thing just happened in Syria. The point being made is civilian casualties do not, in and of themselves, constitute a war crime. Are they tragic, absolutely. The sinking of ships with civilians on board does not constitute a war crime. I know it’s a nuance but the sudden cry of war crimes against Israel is not based on historical truth.
