This little boy was shot in the head, execution style, because he rode his bike on the neighbor's lawn. It was never much in the news, because Cannon was just a white little boy.

Does not matter. It was made illegal in Elizabethan times, the crowd where sick, literally, watching someone have their internal organs slowly cut out and tossed on to a brazier in front of them, sickened everyone. There is then the slippery slope as to what a nasty crime is, the level of evidence, as people have been freed after 20 years even though the original trial had 100% provable evidence, when in fact it was later proved their were innocent. Society has moved on and we are above what you suggest.
