Is it safer for kids now days?

Is it safer for kids now days compared to, let say the between 60's until late 90's?

In my opinion! The kids are safer now than it used to be in my days (80's and 90's) thank for all new tech like phones, tablets, cameras and so on and kidnapping are pretty low now compared to 30 or 40 years ago, they still happen but not as much.

No. Kids are coddled so much today, they don't learn how to be safe, to take care of themselves.

Example: Where I live, many moms drive their kids to the bus stop and the kids wait in the car until the bus comes, rather than walk the 200 feet from their homes. Later, when the bus drops them off, they walk in the middle of the road and some have been hit by cars.

Oh my!!! Is being over protective making things worse in general? Here in Sweden we don't have special school busses for kids. So either the kids walk, get dropped by their parents or take usual public transportation like busses and trains.

I'm always impressed with Sweden. Only visited it once, Stockholm. Everything I've heard about Sweden is top notch.

Yes, kids do not have a clue what can get them killed. I tried to let my kids off the chain once in a while.

No difference in Germany. I walked to Kindergarten on my own from age three to six, I walked to primary school on my own or with a neighbor kid from age six to eleven. All of us did and kids still do. The soccer mom ramming two tons of SUV everywhere to guard her child from everything never was a thing here.

My cousin lives in California and has two kids and we keep in touch so i understand the situation and how bad it is and how parents are worried about their kids safety. They are safer because people are showing more awareness but i still feel technology is doing the opposite of helping. Look at little kids who have tablets and phones and should not yet. No, even though everyone has car seats and bike helmets and nobody is allowed to walk anywhere there are other things more dangerous out there. There are a lot more perverts degenerates out there. There are drive by shootings and not just in the inner cities. Then there is the issue of the tons of deadly drugs coming across the southern border.

The gun violence has gone up in general world wide. I understand that the united states has a lot of mass shootings in schools which is a nightmare for a parent to hear about. I don't have the statistics but i know when it comes to guns is a massive problem in the US. But is the rest looks like beside gun violence?
