1, what do you imagine would happen if Russia used some NUKES on ukraine air force bases?

2, or aimed at battlefields claiming used just for military? (not city of course. only British "can"/did bomb civilian city quarters unpunished).

1. What would happen is that the wind would blow the radioactive fallout east back into Russia and it would get into their water and food supply, land on cities and posion and iradiate them. Other than that none of the other powers would do anything other than shake their fists.

2. Again nothing. Don't know what you mean about the British. The US bombed the shit out of Germany and firebombed Japanese cities.

Admittedly, there’d really be no response because Ukraine can’t respond to that, and NATO doesn’t have any grounds to get involved. That said, I think Russia would instantly lose most of its support if it did that.

What would happen? Well there would be a flash of flight and then thousands of people would vanish. In the following seconds there would be a massive influx of air and heat which would instantly cook/melt the flesh off anyone still alive outside of zone 1. Following that would be the Shockwave which would rip those outside the initial to zones to shreds (that would suck for them) and of course anyone who was looking in the direction of the light flash would likely be immediately and permanently blind plus their hearing would likely be gone as well. Not nearly as much radiation from nuclear weapons anymore so radiation poisoning would be quite low.

The biggest problem with modern day nuclear weapons is the fact a large number are variable yield weapons. Basically Dial a Yield, the US has a number in its arsenal, no doubt Russia has the same. These types of very low yield weapons can be used on logistics hubs, choke points, hard to hit command posts and yes airfields. these weapons are almost viewed as plausible on the battlefield and by default other areas that may not be FEBA but is an attack route.

Even without any direct military reaction (which is likely), Russia would become even more isolated, as not even China could support a nuclear escalation anymore. Large parts of the war would then shift to a purely partisan warfare, also on Russian territory.
