Do you agree that it is sad there have always been so many people that bases their value mostly or only on their looks?

I have a friend that started to place mostly his value or only his value on looks starting in Junior High or High School after he noticed he started getting treated way better by people once he became very good looking and muscular. It stuck with him since the validation, attention, treatment, respect, etc he got. He is turning 24 soon and he got overweight last year, his face went to above average looking and he stopped being super good looking. That is one of BIG reasons he has been super depressed since that happened. He says he will feel complete again once he gets in shape again and very good looking. He doesn't feel complete MOSTLY due to his looks.
