When you read the study its self, they exclude Donald Trump, and America First candidates from the study.

Could be a conspiracy theory, that the parties act that way to try to portray one side as caring and the other as not. But I think it largely has to do with the soft bigotry or low expectations from one side, and a cowardice present on the other side.

Although the article sums it up mostly accurately, they exclude that the study only focused on white, male, establishment presidential candidates.
