This study has come to my attention and I think it explains a lot about what has been happening throughout the past 15 years.
The study depicted a game being played by volunteers. Two players were chosen to be punished. One followed the rules and the other cheated. The study then measured the brain activity of the men and women who were observing the punishments taking place and were aware of who played fairly and unfairly.
The findings of this study is that both men and women had an equal amount of sympathy for when the fair player was punished. However, when the rule-breaker was punished, only the women felt sympathy. The men, on the other hand, not only didn't feel sympathy for the rule-breaker but felt a sense of reward as they felt that justice has been served.
