The problem with a French style revolution is the winner would be as oppressive as our current dictators. Better would be a peaceful USSR style revolution.

I assume you mean the collapse of the Soviet Union
and not the Russian Revolutions?
I think there is just a clear mental disease in this country that is taking over much of the system.
Specifically aspects of the system that have the most control
I would be game. I will bring my own guillotine

If you're talking about the USA, there's no way you could form a united front against the true oppressors because they're not even seen. Their face is the ultra-wealthy and corporate greed, but it's also the entire system of keep people dumbed down and fighting each other over ANY available distraction.
It's been said by recently by political observers outside of the US, that conditions are like they were in 1939 Germany; 1/3 of the people are ready to kill off 1/3 of the people while the other 1/3 watches. I'm not sure about the numbers, but I understand the sentiment. Not only is there no unity about who the true "oppressors" are, but one group is sure it's the other group (and I tell you, one of them is correct BUT EVEN THAT DOESN'T MATTER!)
Then there's the matter of weaponry. The government has all it needs while the "people" have a pittance. An actual battle would be over in weeks. By the way, how did that peaceful USSR revolution work out for the Soviets? Not very well.
It hasn't been instant but it never is. However, it is turning out very well. They had a thirty-year-long depression but the people gained their freedom; far more then what little has remained in the USA. Moreover, now Russia is gaining economically and militarily at a very rapid rate. Within the next forty years, Russia will be the World's dominate economic and military power.
I'm sorry miss, but you are sadly mistaken. The Russian people have no freedom under Putin, and they will dominate nothing. They will sink back into their own brand of greed, just like capitalism. Let me guess... you're 19 and a freshman or sophomore in college?
That's true, and I agree with that statement completely, but propping up Putin and Russia as some kind of a model is ridiculous to me. You do realize that if you speak out against him too loudly, you disappear, or your plane blows up, or someone in your family has an accident?
It's never going to happen. The fact things have gotten this bad and nobody's calling for arms, the fact it didn't already start so many other major points ago.
There's nothing realistically that can happen that will make people fight.
There's not enough people who are willing to die or loose their freedom fighting for this country.
You're going to loose so much freedom over the course of your life and you're barely going to notice it when you're older because that's how gradually they take your rights and freedom away. Go ask someone who grew up in the 90's what things were like back then and ask yourself what is it going to take people to lose today to go to war.
We already lost almost everything that made us a community.
If it gets bad enough, you would think people would rebel. Sometimes they do but not always. It is not possible to be worse than North Korea because if it gets any worse the people will all die. As it is, most North Koreans are suffering from severe malnutrition. Nevertheless, North Koreans are not rebelling.
They're going to keep doing things gradually, right now they're trying to disarm the public and the Supreme Court is doing a lot to stop it from happening. But some states are ignoring their rulings.
They're attacking free speech, now even on the internet you have to be careful
The French revolution was a terrible revolution!
It went completely off the rails caused a reign of terror and ultimately failed to do anything landing France back into a monarchy after killing countless thousands.
True it changed the world but only by spreading the very ideas that came from the proceeding American Revolution.
Granted with some french additions that led to ideas like Marxism.
The American Revolution worked because it was driven by well organized State governments with elections and checks to moderate and control.
The french revolution failed because there was nothing to moderate, and it was also driven by people far too trusting and drunk with power to ever build a sustainable system.
Good goverment is build from the ground up to be minimalist and decentralized as to contain bad ideas until they can be identified.
Revolution is always an anti-christian act. It was the case with the French Revolution, the Communist Revolution in the USSR and with the Revolution in Iran in 1979. God is in favor a evolutionary plan in which the society improves step to step to the best. Of course there can be a democratic change of power through elections, in which completely new directions are set for the future, but then non-violence and the real desire for the majority are decisive, not the power of the people who have a weapon.
We need an Evolution in way of thinking of elites. It's not acceptable that 1% of population owns more than 90% of resources. Revolution is in best case scenario just redistributing those resources for a while until huge wealth disproportion happens again and revolutions are often paid with lot of blood.
The problem with the French Revolution was all the executions. When part of your revolution is called The Terror; which occurred after a period that was known for blood running through the streets and people parading body parts of the executed. You know that was not a good Revolution.
Revolutions never turn out the way those who start them want them to be. The regime that follows is almost always far more oppressive, cruel and bloodthirsty than the one that was removed, so no, this isn't a good idea.
âA peaceful USSR resolution.â I think you need to finish up the second half of that âWorld Historyâ class youâre taking. Really think about that statement you made and let it sit for a while, then reassess WTF youâre attempting to say.
Peaceful USSR style revolution? Dude, what? Revolutions arenât peaceful at all. Whatever comes next isnât gonna be perfect. But the shitshow that currently is categorically and unequivocally must go.
No to both. The united states just needs to collapse and be rebuilt by people with better morals and no corruption.
I don't know if we need it but beats normal television
Ahh... the glorious French Revolution ; where thousands were subjected to kangaroo courts and subsequently lost their heads. Do you believe the powers that take overt he new Republic will be any better?
Have you read Animal Farm?
If it involves decapitating the rich, I'm all behind that.
No. In the French & Russian revolution the leaders kicked out the old order and set themselves up as the new aristocracy.
Women unironically think a peaceful protest is revolution. If a protest turned violent women would be the first opponents to revolution.
"Peaceful USSR style revolution."
Is that a joke?
I agree whit the Red Revolution, but whit the total destruction of Russia in to peaces.
It should be a last resort.
Hopefully not
