It’s drive and ambition.
It’s completely possible to have drive and ambition to change the world for the better.
There are good leaders, like Nelson Mandela.
But, there are also those who have drive and ambition simply for the sake of gathering more power, influence, and wealth.
If they’re willing to work harder than you and they’re actively trying to outsmart you, they may pass you as they strive to climb up the chain of command.
Whatever you want in life, if you want it badly enough, and you’re willing to do the work, you’ll probably get it.
Thus, those who obsess about power (and do the work) can achieve those positions.
Whatever you obsess over, you manifest.
Dr Brian Klaas once said "power attracts those most likely to abuse it and then makes them worse"abuse of power n hypocrisy dominate our headlines from downing street to the boardroom thus the people in charge make a mess of things
power is magnetic to corruptible people just about everywhere u look n the worst kind of people r drawn to gaining authority over others that’s especially true for people with a particularly destructive psychological cocktail known as the dark triad: Machiavellianism, narcissism n psychopathypower does tend to corrupt there’s plenty of research showing that decent well-intentioned people frequently succumb to the corrosive effects of power
Well said mademoiselle. That makes a lot of sense. Evil people want to be in positions where they can inflect the most pain.
I’m personally not a fan of the concept that power corrupts. I think it’s bad people who want that power in the first place that makes it seem that way. Just my 2 cents.
indeed that's how it be for most of cases
As a leader you’re also expected to do bad things. Like fire an employee with a family or bomb an enemy and end up killing innocents in the process. Good people would never be able to make these decisions without internal strife.
