Why don’t some leaders like having their authority questioned?

By that, I mean in any groups, but mostly social, or training groups. There are leaders who encourage others to question and have discussions, then there are those who think what they say goes and when questioned, get defensive and annoyed. Why is this? Assuming the person questioning them is humble and open minded, simply seeking a discussion, to broaden their own knowledge?
