I"m not sure... mainly because I've seen both so many times in life.

Like I'm ex-military, and I've seen people that are just straight-up megalomaniacs... they enjoy making you're life miserable just because they can. They strive to get to the top just so they have power and can brag about their achievements. ... now... on the other hand I've seen people that do it because it's their job... call it duty, if you'd like... They do what they have to do to get the job done. If they come down on you it's because you're basically forcing them to and it's to the point that they have to. Generally more friendly and MUCH MUCH less of a god damn braggart. They'll help you advance instead of trying to tear you down... the megalomania types will only help you if it makes THEM look good, because they don't give a fuck about you.

Invariably yes, even if it’s done for the right reasons.

it’s easy to become judge, jury and executioner due to level of power wielded.

Also you can make arbitrary decisions for what seem to be the right reasons, however may not be based on all the facts.

people are as they say human and do make mistakes, this in turn can effect the person with the power and those without.

obviously you also get those who just let it corrupt them and they abuse it at every opportunity.

I think it depends on the person on the inside. One of my favorite quotes from a movie summarizes this perfectly. “ A strong man who has known power all his life may lose respect for that power. But a weak man knows the value of that strength and knows compassion “.


It’s easy to get caught up in that position of power if you’re used to it. I think humans are easier to corrupt than they think. Sometimes power gets to people and corrupt them

It probably seems that way because jerks and abusers leave an easily noticeable impression. The non-abusive leaders don't get noticed as much. A true leader can respect, motivate, and encourage people. An abuser doesn't know how to do any of that, so they 'lead' with fear and intimidation.

Then there's the other type of abuse, where a leader feels 'entitled', so they help themselves to company money, goofing off on company time, sexual harassment, etc.

yes but I doubt that they don't know what power is. Like Japanese company culture that is structure and already that be eaten by USA. What USA use that most of politicians know.
China revolution for it but westerners pursue Xinjiang. Take Japanese as typical culture instead. Ah~born to work for USA be good. Car can't beyond USA you know that. China is bad.

When I was in the military most people did abuse their powers. There were people who didn't have any "power" but acted as if they did, ie., yelling and screaming with a fist to back up their words.

But I did meet a lot of people in authority that didn't abuse their powers.

Depends on what context, which community and social system.

In a democracy an elected official might be able to abuse their power for some time until they voted out, removed from office, etc. But a dictator like Vladimir Putin can abuse their power for decades.

Ruthless leaders will rise up quick and may stay in power through brutality. But they won’t last forever.

Yes. The immense majority of humans can't handle positions of power wheather big or small.

Humans are inherently evil, filled with ego and pride which causes them to cross lines of abuse they will have no problem justifying themselves in.
