This word sounds douchey as hell. Is this what the kids are calling bullshit these days?

1 yIt just means “lying.”
”No cap”, “stop the cap”, “that’s cap”….. all phrases I need to know, but will never be caught dead uttering myself. I promised when I was young that when I got older I wouldn’t be like the middle aged people awkwardly trying to fit in and use my generation’s slang. Had a gray haired teacher tell me something was “mad dope” in like ‘95, and I made the pledge then and there😂

Dude it makes me feel so old. 20 year olds are using lingo I don’t understand. I never thought this day would come
Cringe! I am really hoping I don't turn into one of those as well. Remember some of those 90s cartoons in the US made by hipsters trying to have teenage cartoon characters that sound trendy? Perhaps one with a character riding a skateboard with sunglasses, a gold chain, and a helmet (what street skater wears a helmet?), then he brings his skateboard to a stop and says, "What's up dudes and dudettes? Let's go drink some orange juice with cookies! Totally rad! That's dope! Saweeeeett!" And I remember thinking this is a middle-aged person's interpretations of how teenagers talk and act and it's totally lame.

Wasn’t supposed to happen to us, lmao. I’m not even so baffled that new things are cool, it’s the way they look at OUR cool stuff and think it’s lame. We FOUGHT for that shit, lmao, the older generations were like “your shit sucks!”, and we were like “Fuck you, old timers, this is what’s new and fresh! Get down or get out of the way!”
Now I’m here like “Young Boy Never Broke Again? Is that….. is that his full name? What do his friends address him as?”😂 - 1 y
@GuyAnswersGirls123 just makes me think of the Poochie episode of The Simpsons😂😂😂
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AySXu8x-RnA
Or on Saved By The Bell when Zack Morris and his friends all had a Doo-wop group, because it was like 1991, so of course they did😂😂😂

That’s just 50 year olds who hadn’t been cool since 1965 writing TV shows for kids of the 90s. Fingers directly on the pulse of the youth, lmfao - 1 y
Oh shit…. that’s a “Tori” episode…. so it was 1993! Yikes, lmao
Epic nostalgia! I actually didn't mind Saved by the Bell though since it was so far divorced from teenage trends at the time (reminded me a lot of the Jughead/Archie comics). Also Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was charming to me since it seemed like it was doing it for comedic effect, almost making fun of 80s surfer lingo.
One thing that got me are these new Star Trek shows like ST:Discovery and ST:Picard. Some of the characters on there (Tilly especially) talk like teenagers on Twitter. "OMG, you're sooo invited! This is the power of math, people!"

Groan. The classic Star Treks had people speaking in a fairly timeless way.- 1 y
@GuyAnswersGirls123 lmao, Zack Morris was my hero in middle school. Loved Archie comics too, definitely a lot of similarities. I didn’t get into TMNT as hard as some others, but definitely was into it some, and I think I was one of the suckers who bit on Michelangelo’s surfer schtick, non-ironically😅 I was kind of enamored with the SoCal surf scene as a vague idea from the east coast.
Star Trek I have almost no frame of reference for, but from that video I can wager that Spock would not have approved, haha

1.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It's streetsy, hoodsy language for a "lie." So when you hear these new agers saying "That's cap," they basically mean "That's a lie." Or "no cap" means "no lie." It originated from trap rappers and I imagine probably from the ones out of Atlanta, seeing as much of their music is what dominates a lot of modern rap and hip hop.

Same with “on god.” That’s another hood saying that sounds profoundly stupid
- 1 y
The way a halfway intelligent person says these phrases: “that’s bullshit,” not “that’s cap.” “Agreed,” not “on god.” This lingo makes me face palm every time. 🤦♂️
1 yUsed to mean that was the top you could get, like a salary. He was capped at $90,000. Or something you used in a cap gun. Then they added a "R" to it to make Crap. Then they took off the "C" and made Rap. You have to be a Sap to get it all anyway.

1 yI had to look it up! I thought it meant shooting people like, "Foo, I be strapped. Get out of here before I bust a cap in yo face!" "Dawg, he got capped!" Apparently it means lying now. I am having a difficult time keeping up these days.

m 1 yIt’s English it evolves. For example your use of the word Bullshit, is derived from the far earlier English use of Bull (on its own) which comes from (most likely) old French Bole meaning fraud, deceit.

1 yIt’s the trashy hood version of saying “wrong” or “that’s a lie”, things along those lines. I just say “wrong” because I have class like Rayquaza and Diancie having a tea and meteor party

03 Reply- 1 y
That’s not what I’m referring to Iron Man
1 yLast I heard the phrase it was a euphemism for bullet. I busted a cap in his ass.
