Happiness is something you create. You could have the worst circumstances, be dealt shit, and still look on the bright side of things and always be grateful for what you have in your life. I envy the people that are able to do so. For myself, the knowledge that if I had more money, my life could have so much more in terms of material possession and freedom... does make me desire it and therefore makes it hard to be happy with my current circumstances. That's how it is for most people.
Nowadays, most of us have this American dream. Nice house, loving partner, financially well off; financially free, etc. And it we all compete in this rat race to achieve it. Always on our "grind" as if it makes us a better person.
"Hard work never killed anyone."
People care more about how much money you make and where you are on the social status ladder than who you are as a person, because they want to achieve that life themselves.
"Always associate yourself with people more successful than yourself."
I'm not saying it's wrong to have a good work ethic and fight to achieve the standard of life you desire. But I do think that human society has lost its way in terms of what makes us happy in life. We've strayed away from nature. There have been many studies that show that humans cortisol levels significantly decrease in nature and are elevated in urban environments. No matter how much someone says they love the city, it still increases cortisol levels in the brain.
is a great depiction of the current state of society.
Most people waste their lives away, not thinking about what makes them happy and then they die with REGRETS.
I've come to the conclusion that happiness mostly comes from experiencing things with loved ones. If only people realized just how important it is, depression rates might not be as high as they are right now. The current state of society does not cater to the human soul.
Happiness is a choice. It’s a perspective. Doesn’t mean everything is perfect, rather it signifies an equilibrium of mind, body and spirit. That could mean having lots of things or no things. It could mean having lots of people in your life or just being alone. Happiness isn’t some destination and the end of the road. It’s the journey that takes you there.

We rented one of these, and went "camping." What a stupid thing to do. It was just a smaller version of home. It sucked shit and was boring.

This was happiness! Bears? What bears? Wait, what? No coffee maker? How can we cook our Chili? Do we actually have to be creative and think? We have to take a bath in the river? There was lots of fumbling, and lots of laughter, and we were happy.
When I suffer from insomnia, I play "rain drops on a tent" on my tablet. Out goes the lights! lol
In a way, but it also comes from other things and people in your life.

Very much so and solely from within -- like this -- drawing from ancient Eastern philosophy, ancient Western philosophy, and modern psychotherapeutic techniques:

That said, I consider these ideals to strive towards, not something to ever fully be grasped. I would be worried if someone can stay cheerful and happy after their closest loved one dies or smile and stay happy while being tortured. It's a pragmatic truth in the sense that putting this into practice will improve our lives.
Oh Jesus, Coach, is this another of your Alpha/simp questions? 🤷♂️👀
(I still don't know what the hell that means? Neither Alpha nor simp are in my vocabulary!!! WTF!!!
I'll take any of your questions over one of the "How da ya like my dick" OR "Why did she kick me in the balls"? "Why won't he eat my pussy"?
I mean, Jesus Christ, Coach... What da they want?
People that have been over ran with tragedy and death, have a tough time reflecting happiness, but I think by-and-large, we create our own heaven or nightmare...
I am happy because of the way I live and my friends,
🤣🤣🤣
To a point it’s not, as the world is unfair, unjust, not everyone has the same social starting point. But, yes you can create a level of happiness, you have to accept certain things, have a more tolerant level of expectations depending on your social level. For example a 20 yr old living on streets on Delhi has a far less chance of owning a BMW M4 than a white male whose parents are both high level surgeons / lawyers and from a family that has prospered through generations. Each can be happy, set their own expectations of what that happiness looks and feels like, even though life gives them to totally different views.
Happiness is a false ideal. Even the "happiest people in the world" don't see it as something one must have constantly.
What everyone actually wants is "contentment" with the occasional happiness as a "frosting".
But too many are like drug addicts looking for happiness like a constant high, and most are willing to sacrifice everything for it. Then complain "you don't want me to be happy!" when punished.
Nope, you walking mental health project. Your version of "happiness" means taking from everyone else's.
Respectfully disagree, I have too many friends that are broke, kind of losers, but very happy with what they got.
What part of that was disagreeing. If anything, that means you agree 😂
so even though they are broke and losers they create their own happiness... sounds like an AGREE to me.
HahhA perhaps
Not as simple. While you can try to let go things you can't change and be happy, you still are unhappy about things regardless, loss of a job or parent, etc.
I disagree.
Happiness is simply a choice you make
“The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem” - jack sparrow
No, you're either born with it, or you're not.
Just like being born with eyes vs not being born with them. The difference is that almost everyone is born with eyes, very few people have happiness
not so simple of course, but mostly, yes...
You can't create happiness on your own. You're going to need a little help.
happiness is sth u acheive
Absolutely agree,
I think this question is not clear enough
Agreeeeeeeeeeee
That pretty much says it all.
I agree, 100%.
