How do you celebrate Black History Month?

I don't celebrate it but due to the awareness, I often lookup articles about black people in history. It's a reminder.

What do you recommend.

Maybe I should invite a black person out and buy them lunch. Is that right? To be honest, I don't like race stuff, whever race gets called out, it starts going bad directions and changes dynamic. It does not seem constructive. It is much better when people are treated as normal people and we focus on their individual issues strengths and life.

But I see nothing wrong with recognizing the history of peoples, black history included.

can you imagine... if we had Italian history month and a black person took me out for lunch and said..."dude, I just wanted to thank you and say Im sorry... you know, all the bad stuff that happened to you all back in Italy, the Mongol invsation and sh! t. that was terrible." Yea I know, my teeth were a mess, probably from those Mongols... and they never paid us back.

Cmon... but yea, I see nothing wrong with acknowledging an individuals challegnes and recognizing them as a human bing, focusing on achieving their best life. That seems constructive.

The same way as celebrating Thanksgiving, I suppose

But instead of kicking in a Native Americans door, killing their family and then claiming self defence while stealing their land and possessions. We hold up a White man store, and rob it instead.

We don't do the killing like they did back then. Don't want to be as bad as White folk and their "trail of tears"

I don't any more than I do any other ethnic remembrance holiday. It's divisive and nobody benefits from it.

As a black woman I feel they shouldn't have black history month. It should be American history period.

I am black and I don't.

Don't get me wrong I am grateful for the sacrifice of my ancestors, but like me, I believe they were just people trying to live their best lives. They were no different than any other race or culture doing the same.

I've had the good fortune to twice be at the MLK memorial on MLK day in January. That was really cool - seeing people of all races come to celebrate.

I don't really do anything out of the ordinary for any month dedicated to an ethnicity or national origin

I don't. Why don't any other nationalities or races gets a history month? What makes blacks so special that they not only get an entire month but junteenth? That's 2 months!!
