Why would a state that has legalized cannabis have employers who test for THC?

You have someone working as an engineer at an air port, do you want them smoking cannabis all day and then working on the flight you and your family get on? Alcohol is legal but driving a car you can get breathalysed or sitting in the office or at school having a whisky will likely mean losing your job.

Yes but turning up with alcohol in your system for some jobs, airline pilot, train driver, bus driver is a sackable offence. No matter what people want, there do need to be some simple basic rules to stop idiots killing people because of their use of drugs, alcohol

Oy gevalt! It's NOT legal. Not anywhere in the US. States cannot override Federal law. This is civics 101, dude. What the States are doing is saying "we're not going to enforce the law"; not that the law no longer exists.

Beyond that- booze is legal. Show up to work drunk, and you're going to have a problem. Do you see THAT as an issue?

It makes no sense. The federal government says it's illegal. The state can say it's legal. Then state governments will test you for something that's legal. LOL

There's plenty of legal things that most employers are not going to allow. It's legal for me to shave my head and wear a bikini, But I don't expect any bank to keep me on if I'm going to go in like that.
