Have you ever heard of wealthy teenager Ethan Couch, whose trial for killing four people while driving under the influence sparked widespread talk of wealthy privilege, and who was released from a Texas prison after serving just two years in prison? I always wonder why do rich people have so many privileges in our society?

Money is a plague on humanity and it's very possible to run society without it, but everyone in society is brainwashed into thinking if it's not money, then it's bartering and no one wants to regress society back to that. Everyone also says that if you're not a capitalist, you're a communist and that's not true.

I think there are enough educated people in the world to come up with a system where we did not need money at all, but everyone is afraid of losing everything they've worked for and would never go for it.

Rich privilege is disgusting, but it will always be around because of how corrupt money is, unless we abolish the concept and come up with a new system.

In the UK the number of celebrities and professional footballers that get of drunk driving charges, speeding fines and worse is crazy. At one point they tried pushing through a fines only approach, which meant it would be just paying cash to speed. The better the lawyer, the higher the costs, which rules out normal people getting someone good to get them off charges etc.

I think it’s even worse in non western countries, I know from my brother the issues they face with bribery and corruption in other places, all of which they try to use cash to simply sweep problems away.

I believe his privilege is having enough money to afford the best lawyers. If it was just wealthy privilege he wouldn't have served any time. I think the true problem is greedy lawyers... I believe everyone should have access to quality lawyers. Not the piss-poor public defenders. Maybe a way to solve that is make the high-priced lawyers have to do X number of hours a year of community service.

Money - in and of itself- is not evil. (It's simply a convenient way to carry "value" with you when you shop for necessities. ) It's when money BECOMES your object of worship that the problems set-in.
