Rape is about a type of carnal power over someone else. Pretty much every rapist has something wrong with them.
For some, power had been inappropriately used against them at some point in the past, and that trauma makes them want to reclaim that power they feel like the lost or didn't have, by using power against someone else. This might include rape.
For some, they lacked parental love and affection during their youth and likely lacked discipline, developing a personality disorder (often times narcissism). This is a highly selfish self-love within themselves. And to feed that self-love, they often berate others, try to manipulate others, and sometimes just go ahead take what they want from other people, which could include rape.
For some, it's a genetic inclination with some environmental nurturing which brings out sociopathic or psychopathic tendencies, and leads them to feeding their needs for self-gratification and intellectual stimulation by mentally overpowering you, and possibly physically overpowering you.
And inebriation of any sort can make it easier for these people to overcome any internal compulsions saying, "Don't do it."
That said, these are all people, despite how horrible rape is. Most of these people went through really horrible upbringings. That doesn't excuse them from the crimes they commit. Only that many of them have lowered self-control compared to higher need for self-benefit, and this was a "nurture" situation often created by their parents or caretakers.
So it's often times not their fault that their brain acts and thinks this way. In other words, each of us is responsible for what we do, but we're not always responsible for "why" we do it.
And unfortunately, our prison systems often aren't treating rapists like mental health patients. They treat them like any other criminal, lock them up, no rehab of any kind, and then release them back into the world, like "Behave now, okay?" Bruh, that's not how it works.
These people need lots of counseling, therapy, possibly drugs. Many of these people will benefit from being treated as if they have a mental health issue, because they do. And THEN if some of them seem non-rehab-able, they need to be locked up for the rest of their life so they don't harm others.

Issues with how they were raised
The only reason why I will never support the death sentence, even for rapists is a) women do lie about rape and b) you can exonerate a person from life in prison. You can't resurrect an executed one.

i think they should get life sentente or at least they should be in prison long enough. today i just read around 7 underage boys were raping 12 year old girl and they even filmed. and it’s written that the longest they’re going to be in jail is for 5 years? while the girl’s life is totally ruined and will be traumatized forever.

You can't incarcerate children. They aren't capable of realizing the full width of their actions.
But they should be in a correctional facility and re-educated.

I suspect there's different kinds of motivations.
In essence, one person is violating the space of another for their selfish interests. They do so because they don't care about the other persons feelings, they care about how they feel and what they want, which could be... spite, terror, paybacks.
Take examples of invading Russian army into Germany in WWII, or the Japanese into China. That was paybacks.
Take example of two people in a bar and it goes too far.
I think there's cases of "mis interpretation" and lack of control... alcohol, drugs, hormones. It's a concoction.
Readup on a theory called "body budget" where a persons emotions come out of their body. Hormones clearly have an influence.
It's all wrong and horrible. In some cases the person raped should be the executioner or decider. fair is fair.
Once you understand more, then you can better judge people and protect yourself. This doesn't happen to men as often, but it does happen. Such impacts can damage a persons self esteem, worth for decades if not life... if not dealt with. Some personalities may handle it better than others... e. g. someone whom is sensitive, empathetic may take it hard.
There's so many people traumatized in this world, many women enslaved by way of the abuse of another.
In essence, it is "worldly power" controlled by emotions. This another reason I believe in Christ... his power to free people from "emotional bondage".

I could add a little more if you want..."what to do about it?" That's another question. You don't want to live life in fear, but in confidence and strength. That will get you much better place. My solution to most of life was to develop a "world view" that makes sense out of it, then deal with reality in a positive and confident way results in much more success and safe.

The problem is, some other people are not. and even a person raised to decent standards by good parents can be awful to others at times. This gets into personalities, emotions, motivations.
My experience is you have to face evil with strength. To me, that is putting on the armor of Christ, but also confidence and being healed within myself.
Something you may not know that I find to be true... there are personalities that enjoy making others suffer. Not everyone is "wired" the way you are. If your personality is as I suspect, a good hearted person, there are others that will try to take advantage of you... not just physically, but in work, finances and such. So being aware of what you are dealing with and your abilities to handle it, is important.
I learned all that the hard way in life so I'm passing it on. hope it makes sense and motivates you to better place. If not, I'll try to clarify.

For what it's worth, I used to not like people... because of the hurt I received. Christ changed my heart and many years of thinking and learning, I developed compassion for people. Doesn't mean I accept any violator or rapist. It means I understand them somewhat to navigate the issue and possibly get people to a better place... so healing can begin. That be my goal.

They are not mentally of that I can assure you. They do however have a completely messed up moral compass, little compassion, no self control and complete lack of respect and disregard towards consent, and of course more recently compulsive dishonesty. Why dishonesty factors in? Well we can thank trans people and underage people for that. Trans people because they lie and say they are women or men when they are trans women not women and trans men not men. As a result lawmakers had to alter the definition of rape to include deceit (lying) as for how best to deal with him? They should be put to death but not quickly. There are various "reasons" (never justifications) for rape. It might be a straight sexual addiction combined with a lack of self discipline (like pedo's) or it might be psychotic aggression like those criminal aliens and foreign born religionists (especially in Sweden) that are raping and murdering young white women.
