Mostly because its a group without a face, in other words its a group that you do not know and can't inherently feel empathy for. Conveniently, every immigrant you happen to know is always "different", you take them out of the box of other "immigrants" and put them into your other groups of people that you know. You commonly hear people who are anti-immitrant talk about their immigrant friends like saying "they are one of the good ones" or whatever, never as part of the overall group of "immigrants".
But that is not why people choose immigrants in particular to hate, that decision is made mostly by politicians or people who wants to gain some kind of authority over you. There are many ways to unite people such as being charismatic or having a good plan. Those however are difficult and require a lot of work as well as some sincerity on your part. Another way to unite people is to unite against something or someone else. This is much easier since it matters much less what or who you are, as long as the thing you are uniting against is bad or scary enough then they will not ask any questions or demands from you.
As such, people looking to exploit others or are incompetent or lazy tend to gravitate towards the "unite against others" option. It gives you a lot of freedom to break morals and such without any blowback.
Once you understand this simple truth it becomes childishly easy to notice the signs in real life. How politicians love to frame things as "invasions" or "wars" for example. Or how they keep explaining things to make you scared, like bringing up drug gangs or whatever. Fear becomes a very important message because fear makes you fall in line and stops you from asking questions.
Why is being pro-immigration so popular?
Most people aren't anti-immigration. They're anti unfettered immigration. The population of the UK is 68 million. It was 60 million 20 years ago. The last two years, each year has seen a net migration figure of 700000. This is outrageous for a small island. House prices are through the roof and this seriously depletes the standard of living for the population. It means a hugely significant chunk of your salary is going towards the basic necessities, rather than any, you know, joy, that rather antiquated notion. Services and infrastructure are seriously impeded, too. My town 20 years ago barely had any traffic. Now it's extremely busy. They want to build on what remains of the green spaces, the last bit of sanctuary from the mechanical cold insanity of this world.
There are serious cultural and integration issues, also. Most the immigration is from certain aspects of the world. There is a clash of values. Freedom of speech has been severely eroded in the last few decades.
You import the third world and you become the third world, it's pretty simple.
There is such a catastrophic failure of policies, that it's clear to see this is what the powers that be want. A highly divided 'global' population. Far easier to control, all very convenient for globalist forces.
Its an election year. Sides pick topics they think will swing votes then spread falsities about said topic loudly, as frequently and as far as possible. See how many people will believe half the spin. This is expected anymore.
Keeping people fearful makes them easier to control.
There are caravans….. CARAVANS….. filled with drug dealing rapists, heading our way right this moment, dontcha know.

Most people I know are not anti immigrant. Both my wife and I are the grandchildren if immigrants. Mist people I know are against Illegal Immigration. They are against the crime it brings and the coat tontaxpayers to have tob support millions and millions of people who usurp facilities and services that should be spent on working people, veterans and the elderly. The federal government spent nearly half a Trillion dollars in 2023 on illegal aliens. State and city governments have spent billions more. They are on track to spend more in 2024. This will never end until we have a responsible person as President.
I've never met anyone who is anti-immigrant. I'm sure they're out there at klan rallies or whatever. I know a great many people who are very adamantly anti-illegal immigrants. From a blended family of immigrants, pretty much the whole of both sides is like "Where do I go volunteer to build that wall?" because people who respect the law and follow the process tend to dislike it when someone breaks the law to do something important the wrong way when they had the integrity to do it the right way. My roommate is Mexican from the lower peninsula. Got his USC 22 years ago. He asked me why we just don't mine the border. I said the javelina would set them all off prematurely. I was kidding. I'm not sure that he was.
Once again to correct the attempted manipulation you people keep trying to do. It is not anti-immigrant it is anti- ILLEGAL- immigrant. Illegal is the operative word because people who enter illegally tend to commit crimes like the young woman who was murdered by an ILLEGAL immigrant that Biden let into the country.
Because they cause problems like anyone else, but they are a bit worse because theyre harder to find and punish.
