Why do a certain subset of people jump to "you hate immigrants" when you talk about not wanting illegal immigration?

It's comical when I hear this. I am personally all for immigration, as long as they do so the legal way. Coming here as a criminal alien is what it is, we can't vet them, we can't prove that they are good people, and as a result they need to go back where they came from.

My own family were immigrants, we came here in the 1920's, we got our citizenship the right way through the legal process. Most immigrants that I have spoken to feel the same way I do, even if they are first generation immigrants..

It’s more about an unspoken difference in energy. And before we even started getting riled up about the immigration hubbub of today, my entire life, I’ve heard countless disparaging comments about immigrants….. and it’s not the white ones.

I was born in what is basically my city’s Little Italy. Probably less so these days, but back in the 80s, it wasn’t uncommon to encounter Italians “from The Old Country”, and they’d be walking down the street or drinking coffee outside of a cafe on the sidewalk, and they’d be speaking Italian. And the mood on that was always “that’s so charming!”

There was a day long before my time where Italians were persecuted. When my 93 year old dad was growing up, the rift was between white Protestants and white Catholics. THEIR parents didn’t want them hanging out, but my dad’s generation was what was considered Progressive at that time, and they were basically like “what’s the big deal? We’re all white here!” But hanging out with other races was just unheard of and out of the question.

We unfortunately still haven’t gotten to the desired point of “what’s the big deal? We’re all humans here!”

But the point is, the Italians and the Irish and the Polish, etc, they had their struggles a century ago or more. But eventually Mayflower whites let them in the club.

100 years-plus later, our immigrants don’t have the same shared physical features as Mayflower whites who still like to think they own America and everything runs through them. They’re East Asian, South Asian, Caribbean, Central American, South American…. and now all of a sudden it’s a problem.

The same people who think the old Italian couple speaking in their native tongue is charming, are flipping out because the ATM gives them an option to choose Spanish, and suddenly the energy is “tHiS iS aMeRiCa! SpEaK English!!! AsSiMiLaTe Or GeT tHe FuCk OuT!!!🤬”

Now WHAT do you think the difference could be?🤔 Why are Italians or Greeks or other Europeans “interesting-white”, and everyone else is some weirdo who’s a perceived threat to your employment or safety? Why have people told me movies like Menace II Society and Boyz N The Hood are “ghetto”, and my parents would’ve told me to “turn off that Black crap”, but The Godfather and Goodfellas are classic masterpieces? East Asian and Indian folks bring so much to the table here professionally, they get some level of acceptance because white people perceive them as docile and non-threatening, but even as a grown adult, I still hear people just mockingly making fun of their accents behind their backs, or saying some other ignorant cultural barb. I mean, no one’s going to die from it or anything, but it’s definitely not cool, and it just tells you where people’s heads are REALLY at, despite what they claim to the contrary, for themselves and for society at-large.

Additionally, re: current immigrants…. our own people are WAY more dangerous. I don’t have the facts and figures readily available and don’t feel like chasing them down, but I give you my gentleman’s word that American citizens are statistically 2x as likely to commit crimes than immigrants. I mean, just use your brain…. you're either here on revocable immigration status, or you’re here and essentially in hiding from the government…. you're not going to be looking to act up and call attention to yourself. That’s a quick way to get sent home. I mean, all I hear is “20 million illegals are here!”, then “Trump is going after all the criminal ones!”

Now, we’re two months in, they started deportations faster than anything else they did, and I’ll hear “260 immigrant gang members deported by ICE”….. THAT’S IT? Where are the swarms of murders and rapists I was told about? I mean, I’d need like 200,000 murderers and rapists to come out of this 20 million to start saying “WHOA, that’s a lot of criminals, proportionally!” Are we anywhere near touching that number? Y’all either lied through your teeth about these people, or Trump is doing a bad job with this, there’s no Option C.

They’re VERY vague when asked about hard numbers of people deported, but they make sure to make big fanfare when they get some guys from a gang or something (allegedly…who fucking knows with these people, they’d say literally anything) and send them off on a plane to Guantanamo Bay or some South American country. If their numbers were good, and anywhere near the level that would justify the panic they tried to sow during the campaign, you KNOW Trump would never fucking shut up about it. You KNOW that. So the relative silence and only selective, occasional crowing tells me that the rubber has met the road, and once again, Trump scammed y’all.

But hey, at least you got your grocery bills way down, right? Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?🎤🤨😂

I come from a city heavily populate by immigrants and it has its pros and cons..

I love that I'm spoilt for choice when it comes to eating some of the most amazing foods from all around the world and getting to experience others cultures and making friends with people from all over the world but I'd be lying if I didn't also amit there was a massive issue with immigration, especially illegal immigration.

I have no hate in my heart for people who want the best in life for themselves and there loved ones but they must work for it like the rest of us and respect the law, values and culture of the land too that they wish to immigrate too.

There's so many people in the UK that don't know a lick of English and don't ever intend on learning the language even after being In the country for 20 years + because the UK will baby them and get them translators if they need to do anything important.

We can't even celebrate are own culture now or have the English flag up now without being called racist. I can't even remember the last time we celebrate St George's day in my city but I can remember when we last celebrated Ramadan.

More and more of are country side is being taken away from us to build more housing and taxes are higher than ever.

I know I'll get hate for saying this but what upsets me most is that British history and values are constantly being disrespected and we are told we are racist if we speak out.

My husband brother in law and sister both work in immigration and they deal with illegal immigrants on a daily basis. 90% are war fighting aged men with criminal records mainly involving sex crimes and they expect to be given everything as soon as they sail in. 90% of applications get regretted but they they get human rights lawyers involved and they get to stay and usually there first question will be "so when do I get my house?". My brother in law even had a guy tell him he wanted a six bedroom house and for him to find the rest of his family and bring them over to the UK for him all of the taxes payers money of course.

a lot of them now are so entitled and are not willing to work and when they do they don't work to a good standard. People who've been born in the UK are expected to break there back working to support these people and all our money goes to helping these people when we are barley getting by ourselves. I have friends whose parents have fought for our country who live in rented houses and struggle to get by on a daily basis whilst there's illegal immigrates getting 9 bedroom houses and benefits coming out there arses..

It's the biggest issue facing the UK and europ but we are bullied, attacked and told we are racist if we speak out negatively about. You know immigration has gotten so bad in your country when people whos parents, grandparents immigrated to the UK themselves are complaining about the state of the country.

How do we stop illegal immigration? By making legal immigration easier and a green card easier to acquire too.

Immigration helps the economy, the low skilled workforce will always take low skilled jobs since it is all they know to do / are comfortable with less wages, unsafe conditions, working in extreme heat and humid weather, working long hours, etc. they won’t take high skilled labor workers’ jobs since they need money to afford it.

Natural Born Americans help the economy, the high skilled workforce will always take high skilled labor to put their education to good use. It is all they know to do after all, you get benefits, wage increases, safety, ability to join a Union, reasonable work hours, and more.

Now if someone tells you this straw man argument again, just answer with this because it is the truth. And furthermore, immigrants aren’t the ones doing mass layoffs…. It is the corporations that buy into politics so stay curious, stay alert, and take a stand for your fellow man.

This country was founded and built by illegal immigrants who contracted more illegal immigrants.

So my take on the matter is that regulating immigration is stupid, and people should be able to move to and live where they want regardless of origin and that everyone on earth should have automatic citizenship in every country (which will most likely never happen because most (if not all) countries are ran by morons.

I'd love to move to Tokyo and set up shop in Akihabara, but too much red tape (and upkeep to said red tape), all because of arbitrary rules that make no sense.

Look at China to see why immigration is good, there are too many people in one spot, they need to have a mass exodus of immigration just to make their country sustainable, then you have Japan who's population is on the verge of dwindling, or countries that are very over developed but need more homes when really people could just move to other less developed countries so we don't overdevelop or overcrowd any one spot.

You can't think about immigration like a politician.
You have to think about immigration like an ecologist wanting sustainability, an economist wanting strong international trade, a family member wanting to reunite with loved ones in other countries, and a lonely person who's perfect match is in another continent because they either don't agree with or benefit from the local culture where they are.

The left has intentionally perverted the definition of immigrants to cover up the fact that there's a distinct difference between legal and illegal immigration. They wanted to characterize everyone who is opposed to an illegal invasion of our country as a racist. In order to do that they had to control the narrative to make no distinction.

No moral person would not understand the difference between legal and illegal immigration and why the former creates strength and the latter creates chaos.

Yes it's true that vetting is critical, but there are other issues too such as how illegals jump the line in front of law abiding immigrants who follow our laws and often have to wait years to get the reward. Do they realize that not long ago immigration reform was a bipartisan issue? Democrats and Republicans alike wanted to reform the immigration laws and reduce the number of immigrants.

But then the Democrats decided to play the race card. They did a 180 and were suddenly against it - all so they could play the race card and call Republicans racist for something they themselves recently supported.

Do they realize that "Trump's wall" was not Trump's wall at all? Trump did less on that wall than the previous SEVEN administrations, including two terms each of Democrats Obama and of Clinton. That's the same Clinton who pushed hard for the wall.

Do they realize that the "Muslim ban" that Trump was accused of used the same exact list of Muslim countries that Obama used? Why was it a Muslim ban when Trump used that list, but not a Muslim ban when Obama used it? The president isn't even the one who comes up with those lists. They come from other agencies and are developed over years or decades.

Ever watch that Canadian reality show of the Canadian immigration service at the airports? Ever see what happens in Canada if they see a passport of a westerner who happens to have a few passport stamps from Muslim countries? It's an immediate flag that triggers extra scrutiny.

Every country in the world controls it's borders, most a heck of a lot more strictly than the US.

I know an Australian guy who visited the UK. He got to the UK and was not allowed to enter because they considered him high risk of overstaying ( because he was young and visiting his UK girlfriend ). He was detained and sent back to Australia. Australia is even a commonwealth country.

Because in some cases "Conservatives" aren't against illegal immigration, they are against ALL non-white immigration, legal or illegal. They believe that there's some insidious "deep state" conspiracy to transform the USA into a non-white country. Remember the chant, "The Jews will not replace us"? Personally, I'm totally against ALL illegal immigration. I don't care if you're a gang member, a rapist, or a saint being persecuted in your own country. exactly... illegal immigration is a terrible and abusive thing. so many people died tryign to get here. the records show so many children suffered, trafficked, lost parents, etc.. and then its awful housing, they dont get the respect they need, andit's bad repatriating. they were isolated from society.. e. g. without language skills and denying the public right to engage with them so often, they were left alone.

All my grandparents were immigrants. They came here through an approved port , had thorough physicals and had sponsors and jobs. They did not collect a dime in welfare benefits. They became citizens, worked hard, saved their money, bought homes, raised families and contributed to their country.

I will give you mine perspective. Lets say I am from a small country in Europe that has around 2. millions people which from that probably is only 200-400.000 are from 15-30 years olds. Since we got independence in 1990. We almost never had migrants from third world. Except since we are in EU and our economy became good, but we always had strict migrations laws, but recently signed to make quatas each year 50.000 each year. So by 15 years we will have more than half of popullations migrant people from India, Africa and muslim countries. Since they started coming and we never had them already big changes happening. Hard to find apartaments to rent and prices got up, real estate prices got up, almost impossible to find any work everyone noticed that, more people dissapear, noticeble driving culture shift. Than to raise a question does my small country culture has a right to exist or we should just accept we will be replaced

People hear the media talk about immigration, often without the word illegal, and just parrot back what the media tells them.

It's interesting that most countries birth rate is under the 2.1 per woman required to maintain a stable population; the US, and most Western nations, it's about 1.8. Immigration is needed to offset that and keep a country's population stable.
