Do political causes, especially radical ones, attract people to it who are just naturally miserable?

It seems that way, doesn't it? They're all so angry and full of hatred most of the time, whereas those of us who couldn't care less about the fate of Minority X or Radical Cause Alpha are too busy enjoying life and having fun! :D

I can only speak for myself, but since I stopped watching the news and following politics, I became much happier. I have no idea what's going on in the world and ignorance is bliss. I am aware of what's going on in my community and issues close to home though but nothing political
