What's with the GOP and child marriage? Why are they such big supporters of it?

In many parts of the world, it is quite common for girls to get married at age 16. I agree that most girls are not ready for marriage at that age, but I don't believe that my values and beliefs should be forced on others. If the marriage is wrong, the parents have the responsibility to intervene.
You are convinced that you are right and that, therefore, justifies you imposing your beliefs on others.
There may be a few Republicans who oppose raising the age of marriage but that does not man that every Republican, or most Republicans, oppose such measures. You are overgeneralizing, which is a quite common political trick. Your post represents politics as usual.
Why is it when a state legislator proposes raising the minimum marriage age, the GOP always tries to block it? Seems at least a majority of the GOP thinks minors getting married is a good thing
"Seems at least a majority of the GOP thinks minors getting married is a good thing" Probably seems that way because that's what you want to believe. If you really want an answer, research the proposal and look at what the final vote was.
He is also lying out of his ass they brought the age to 18 and made a stipulation that 16 can marry with parental permission mississippilawjournal.org/.../
That is another trick of the left and their politics as usual.
@JacobJordan yep libs like to make a lot of things up I noticed
it's religious. My daughter got raped by the 50 year old neighbor and now she is a whore out of wedlock. The only logical option is child marriage. To retroactively stop our daughter from being a whore in the eyes of the lord.
Probably because a lot of them are child predators.

For a moment I thought you had something but then I looked it up and you are lying out your fucking ass. Attempting to manipulate the truth for your owns purposes you should be ashamed. For everyone who reads this poster is full of absolute fucking bullshit. Here is actually what happened. https://mississippilawjournal.org/about-time-wyomings-efforts-to-limit-child-marriage/
I think you know that's not a standard GOP stance. I can't stand the GOP, but that's like saying I saw a Democrat kicking a dog so the DNC supports bestiality and spousal abuse.
There are enough legitimate reasons to hate them, let's not fabricate more.
Every time some state legislators propose raising the marriage age, the GOP blocks it.
MO State Sen Mike Moon (R) was literally the only one to speak out against the bill. Do you believe him to be the only GOP state senator in MO?
Maybe he is. I don't know. I haven't looked. I find that unlikely. As such, you're intentionally applying one fringe opinion to an entire group you want to slander, and as I do not believe you to be an imbecile, you are doing it for the intentionally inflammatory rhetoric, which makes your entire argument seem less valid.
As I said, there's tons of reasons to hate the GOP. "All of them wanting child brides" isn't one of them.
Did the bill pass? How did the majority of GOP legislators vote?
It passed the house 95 to 50 in bipartison support and the GOP governor promptly signed it. As literally everyone expected it would play out.
Those who opposed it did so because under the new legislation, a judge can approve the marriage of a 21 year old to a 17 year old WITHOUT parental consent by going before a judge, whereas currently it would require the parents to sign off on it as well, thereby involving the parents less and allowing a judge to permit what they would not.
But that doesn't fit the narrative of your hit piece, so google was just too much work, huh?
mississippilawjournal.org/.../ he is lying so hard to try and defame people
@JacobJordan This guy doesn't care about facts. Can't scream at the moon that way.
True but moral responsibility to at least attempt to educate the poor sod before he inevitably throws a woke bitch fit and blocks me because he can't handle getting called out
@JacobJordan hahah i think "woke bitch fit" should be used more often in society
It is surprisingly accurate isn't it
@JacobJordan haha yeah i'm going to be borrowing that for work
Let me know how it goes 🤣
Maybe the culture is different in these states. The country has gotten more homogenized in the last 50 years but there are still differences between the states. There are many liberal states that allow gay marriage. That might seem weird for many in different parts of the country. Who's to say who is right and who is wrong?
Child marriage is wrong. The GOP has a weird obsession with keeping it legal. It’s 2024, not 1884
Should 13 year olds be able to enlist, drive, sign legally binding contracts other than marriage licenses?
@exitseven
I gotta ask. If it’s cultural, then there is no reason to question a child’s ability to enter a lifelong contract like marriage? You don’t believe anybody is in a place to call it right or wrong?
Do you apply that same thinking to, I don’t know, genital mutilation? That’s cultural. Who’s to say who is right and who is wrong? Amirite?
@RainbowMarinade Once upon a time when everyone was a farmer there was probably a reason for this and it became engrained into their culture. Basides , states have the right to run their own lives. They can approve abortions and can set the age of consent. If people do not like it they can elect people that will change it.
@exitseven
So, like child marriage, genital mutilation is a cultural thing that nobody can call right or wrong?
Just to clarify.
He is lying @exitseven took me a few seconds to find the article showcasing what happened mississippilawjournal.org/.../
There are states that have the right to set their own laws. They can give drivers licenses to anyone they want. The other states do not have to recognize licenses that do not adhere to btheir policies. Where ivlive they give illegal aliens drivers licenses. In Florida they will not recognize those as legal licenses
you left out the gap!
the wedding can't be done to a minor but... if done it takes effect if age 13. that is the marriage law. the reason is preserved status quo.
it is not "supporters of child marriage" as you lied... just it takes effect so they are treated as married.
"state laws also typically allow those ***YOUNGER than the minimum age to get married in the event of a pregnancy" also For example, a 14-year-old girl who is pregnant may meet the "special circumstances" requirement, but also must want to get married for "good cause." If the father is supportive and the marriage is in the best interests of the young family, then the court likely would grant a court order for the marriage license."
such a need is from whatever age she can get pregnant.
He left out more than the gap. He is completely lying about it as a typical woke person does. mississippilawjournal.org/.../
This is just one guy, nearly all other Republicans don't support child marriage. Nearly everyone on the left however supports child sex changes with puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and surgeries. Arguably what the entire left supports is far worse than what this one Republican supports.
They are misogynists who believe men should control women. Isn't that obvious?
„Do you remember a time when women couldn't vote and certain people weren't allowed on golf courses? Pepperidge Farm remembers.“

The track records of state modifications to Marriage law in the last 100 years has been an unmitigated disaster for our people.
They are not. Moon said he’s against adults marrying children
Moon?
Ya. Didn’t you read the article? The last name of the GOP politician is Moon
He thinks 13 year olds are mature enough to marry as does most of the GOP
Not accurate. Read the article
He voted against a bill that would have prevented that. The fact you agree with him that 12 year olds are mature enough for marriage says a lot about you
I haven’t said what I believe. I’m saying you posted an article and didn’t bother to read it
He believes in child marriage. He voted against a bill that would have stopped adults from marrying children. The GOP supports child marriage. His votes mean more than his words. Did he propose a law to prevent adults from marrying children? No. Yet you’re defending him. You must be a Republican
Did you read that bill?
I didn’t take time to read the bill. Unfortunately in politics these days bills are lumped with many things. I doubt that is the only thing that bill said. But lemme know
Tell me what was in the bill besides raising the marriage age
I literally just told you that I didn’t take my time to read the bill. So you tell me what else is in it
so all you know is the GOP legislature thinks it's fine for 12 year olds to get married, and you're defending him
Nope I don’t know that. And he could be an asshole for all I know. But until you read the bill you can’t know why anyone voted for it
He is lying and uneducated believing whatever he sees without doing research. Took me less time to find this mississippilawjournal.org/.../ which proves he is full of shit than it took for him to type his manipulative lying post
That looks like a really reputable print-out there...
Prove it wrong. I cut and paste from various articles
prove it wrong? people don't need proof to deny stuff! if they do, Pope said god is real "prove him wrong"!
@OtterMan68 mississippilawjournal.org/.../ you got it. Don't speak again
The legal age that you can marry in Missouri is 17. Not 12 or 13.
I agree go figure they are confused
A lot of them are into little girls
