Do you believe Trump could pick Mike Pompeo as his running mate?

I seen some opinions suggesting Mike Pompeo can be selected as Trump's vice presidential nominee in 2024 election.

For context: Mike Pompeo served as US representative from Kansas' 4 Congressional District from 2011 to 2017, director of CIA from 2017 to 2018, and US Secretary of State from 2018 to 2021.

From me: If Trump nomates him, it would be very "Dick Cheney 2000" candidate pick: very experienced white man, from a deep-red state. Not much to gain, but not much to lose either.

I heard he is seriously considering Greg Abbott. He would be a great border czar. Mike Pompeo has a very impressive resume and he was a very good Sec of State. He would be a good choice but maybe he would be better at cleaning house at the CIA.

I never heard of Abbott as a potential running mate. TBH I am not sure if he would balance the ticket that much.

@Cubus It came from a good source but I am not so sure either. I do not want him to pick another swamp creature like Mike Pence.

I liked him at first but he turned out to be an insider through and through. I am not sure who he should pick. Trump said he wanted to pick somebody who would make a good president. It seems like a tough choice.

I wonder if Noem would be that good choice. The group Trump struggle the most are suburban women and I wonder if Noem would not be "too MAGA" and "too rural" for them. Plus she's from a ruby-red state, that only has 3 electoral votes.
She would be very "Sarah Palin" type vice-presidential nominee.

But I honestly hope it would be Scott. He just seems like a very good and intelligent guy

I think Pompeo would be good either as VP or Secretary of Defense. Honestly, I'd be more happy to see him at the latter. I have no doubt that he would quickly end careers, people at the Pentagon who've made the US military a joke.

Honestly - I doubt it. Ramaswany would not be any benefit for Trump, as he doesn't balance the ticket in any way. He's a copy of Trump, except he's younger and Indian.

I can see Ramaswamy getting some job in the Cabinet, but not vice-president nominee. He's too similar to Trump for this.

Wouldn’t they get along better if they were similar? Besides Vivek was/is the only one who’s shown he is trustworthy enough out of EVERYONE who claims to be on Trump’s side. We don’t want another Pence situation, do we?

No, the vice president is chosen based on giving some advantage, that the presidential nominee lacks ( more moderate/more conservative political positions, gender, race, home state etc).

Ramaswamy;s voters are Trump voters anyway, and to win the election you need to appeal to independents or voters in swing states.
