Yes? Of course if they had our sensitivites they would have torched most of the then African trading posts. People tend to skip the part where white people did not ask for slaves. They asked for trade and were offered slaves because Africa at the time was the world's largest slave traders. Lets not even go into where the word slave comes from, people forget that too.

Honestly, while it does not undo any of the bad that has been done, the rather aggressive slave trade in the U. S can be credited with leading to people finally standing up against and legally ending slave trade worldwide - although it is in many ways still an ongoing struggle. It is easy to forget that slavery has been the historical norm. Our time of renouncing slavery is a very unique phenomena and a hallmark of our society developing. Really it is something that the whole of the world, but admittedly mostly USA, should be very proud or having ended.

vs working themselves to death in the heat of New Orleans? They tried that and died... Africans only ones that could tolerate it.

One wonders if the Africans that captured the Africans had the same idea... they wanted to get rid of these competitors, and aybe they were the "lazy" tribes" and the white merchants were convenient way vs keeping slaves or killing them off.

I doubt the black /Middle easterners would stop capturing slaves as well, they caught many Europeans and enslaved them. Ask the muslims out here if they think it's wrong to enslave and convert Christians, by force?

And lets not forget abotu those whom enslave people today and happily make them suffer while getting rich off of them. Some humans have not evolved.

Yes, because they were greedy and the money was too good to pass up. The same then as it is today. Corporations screwing everyone because of the money - Big Pharma is one example. People dying because they cannot afford the drugs to keep them living. We have those who pollute, such as in mining, and then leave it for superfund cleanup while they go their merry way with money in their pockets. We won't even talk about our corrupt politicians, including Biden, but frankly, it also doesn't exclude Trump.

White people didn't "bring" them to the U. S., Africans sent their own people to the U. S. and sold them.

... Yes... The purchase and ownership of slaves was entirely selfish. They would not have given a damn if it inconvenienced the slaves nor their own descendants. Also I honestly dont think USA would have gotten over racism and bigotry without them. Not that USA has actually done that yet, still a work in progress but at least there is some hope.
