I hope so, but I really doubt it. The problem is that both sides of the political spectrum refuse to find common ground on anything (even the set of facts upon which we base opinions), and they represent genuine existential threats to each other. And it's especially scary because both sides have extremely legitimate reasons to think what they do.
When you have former friends shutting each other down, portraying each other in the worst faith possible, and trying to attack each other; friendship extremely unlikely.

Just know though that if while speaking with me, someone is going to lie to me about what they see and hear, and then consequently to themselves, I have a hard time seeing where that relationship may go.

Im friends w people in real life that have your same view. I just dont talk about politics so much and when they do i listen. There is no changing friends.
So its fine. Its like race… dint bring it up and rather engage at human individual level… talk about things in common and goals and ideas and enjoy life.
I don’t take offense at people for making political arguments. I know most people be they left, right, or libertarian will disagree with a lot of what I believe. I think 90% of people just repeat what they are propagandized into believing. I blame the elites, which I believe amps up political tensions to distract from its own increasing dysfunction and lack of legtimacy.
No. Right wing media isn't going to stop pushing toxicity into The Discussion until they get their way. And "their way" is absolute control over all resources, which would result in a lot of backlash from the rest of us, along with a lot of people simping for the owners rushing to their defense. Civil war is inevitable unless we can push right wing media back at some point, but it's too addictive so that might be impossible.
We never were friends, people were just better pretenders then!
Joking aside, Don't take people too seriously online. Most of this is just banter from people who like to see others squirm.

Especially US American politics are only based on an artificially created divide. So there is no over, there is always the next election with the same stuff.

Satan's efforts, through people, to continue to divide people against each other for as many reasons as possible, will unfortunately continue until the return of Christ Jesus. We must FIGHT the devil, by loving and forgiving all those people with whom we've had arguments or fights with.

This political stuff isn't new and it will never be over. If I can tell what political cult you are then you aren't anyone I would like to be friends with. Avoid social media and you'll be just fine.
